I was walking in a creek barefoot some years ago and stepped on a bottle that had the top half broken off. I put my flipflops back in, which were slipping off my foot that was gushing blood, and a woman approached me asking if I was alright. "Yeah, I'm fine", I said. She replied, "cause I'm a nurse and I have bandages in my car". "I'm not ok", I changed my story.
The woman had actual bandages capable of dressing a wound, and it held up until I could get my foot sutured.
Also, I don't know why acetaminophen is preferred. I don't find it effective for pain (most people probably do though), and it's not an anti-inflammatory.
