This was never discounted before this. So this is the lowest price so far.

The AMD version caps at RTX 4070. So if you don't need a 4080 or above with vapor chamber, probably wait? I'm sure others can chime in on whether they agree with that or not

Before anyone asks, you can upgrade the ssd or add one more but ram is soldered on.

Yeah, unfortunately the 4080 model of this laptop last year basically never went on sale, and when it did it wasn't for very much. This is probably gonna be nearly the best price on this model for a long time, maybe ever.

Any thoughts on Lunar Lake and laptop refresh cycle? IMHO, even if Zephyrus line does get updated this fall, it would be a CPU-only spec bump with possible discounts around Thanksgiving… and it won't be until CES 2025 that we'll finally see next gen dGPUs. At a hefty price, that is.

one was intel 12th gen with 3090, that failed due to some electrical issue on the motherboard the other was 13th gen with 4080 which failed due to heating issues. I heard the new ones have changed the design but personally, i have lost faith in them. Thankfully both laptops were provided by my work company for work so I didnt have to get involved in the RMA process

I snagged the same deal for X16 R2. Seems like this Asus only has the OLED and higher nits display over the x16r2 then?

Is that correct? I thought the $150 (now $180) plan only give you warranty while you're subscribed, up to 2 years. Meaning if you cancel the plan after first year, the warranty doesn't carry over.

Yeah you are correct. And what's worse is that 2 year warranty isn't even their geak squad warranty, it is a literal extension of the manufacturer warranty, up to 2 years (aka if what you are buying already has a 2 year warranty, you get nada extra). And then to top that off, since it is an extension of the manufacturer warranty and not geak squad, when you bring it back that means they only "assist" you by sending it back to the manufacturer on your behalf to be fixed or replaced with a refurb, you won't just get a new one or credit back like with geak squad warranty. Kinda a scam in my opinion.
