I finally did it… Got the Plus membership for two day shipping and 60 day returns. Plan to cancel that on day 59 for a refund. Also used a new credit card with a bonus that required spending $2,000.

It's a very expensive laptop but I believe this 4080 model with 32GB RAM is the best value. The price of the upcoming releases is even crazier and I'm tired of holding out. Hope it arrives in perfect condition.🤞

I'm in for one. I had this in my cart and was going to checkout last night but hesitated, slept on it. Well I woke up at like 3 AM and saw this notification and said open box excellent pricing, with a few bucks coming in for selling my current gaming laptop, just do it.

I picked up one of these when they were open box excellent for $2100 and I am still amazed by it every day. That OLED panel is so gorgeous and the speakers are the best Ive ever heard in a laptop. My company provides me with an M3 macbook pro and I though those were some of the best sounding speakers I ever heard until I got the g16.

There is a hit in performance due to the power limitations they set, so the 4080 wont hit the same numbers as the bigger gaming laptops, but I think its a fair trade off for how thin it is, the OLED panel, and the sound. Im 44 so I also like that it doesn't scream "Im a gaming laptop" if you turn the slash lighting off.

Yup jumped on an Open Box Excellent for 1890 as well. Picking up tomorrow, hoping for best case scenario where its basically "brand new". I mean at basically 1900 for a 4080, 32GB RAM and gorgeous OLED screen + magnificent speakers, can't really go wrong. Worse case I'll return it within 60 days if the 5xxx series proves to be terrrfic performers.

Really dont need amazing gfx performance as I have my 4090 desktop/PS5 for that, but mainly to play the light game or two and for coding tasks. Play the occasional Civ7/Supermarket Simulator/KCD2 while I'm sitting on the couch etc.

Welp, I'm returning mine. Arrived poorly packaged without the original box so must've been bouncing all over the place. No major damage and seems to work (for now) but I can't risk it at this price. What a shame…

Oh you had yours shipped ? Yea I went to pick up mine in store and it didnt have the original packaging either, one of those blue best buy branded boxes with the center exposed with shrink wrap I guess to allow prospectivve buyers to view the condition before buying. But I can see if it was shipped like that I'd be wary what kind of crazy ways its been thrown around.

My open box excellent wasn't bad at all, it has a few very minor scuffs if you look really hard under the light but overall the laptop seems to be working as good as new after going through all the Windows+Asus updates. Speakers on this thing are AMAZING, as is the 240hz OLED.

Are you planning to go for a replacement or something else ? The OpenBox Excellents were a flash sale looks like, its went back up to 2075 which at that point I would rather go for brand new if the price delta is so little between new vs open box excellent.

Yeah, shipping was the only option in my area. The laptop was in a paper sleeve that wasn't even sealed with the power adapter loose in the box with it just clanging around. I'm glad it worked out well for you, though.

At this point, I might wait for reviews of the new G14 with the 5070 Ti and 5080. I'd prefer the smaller size but with that extra power. I'm not really in a hurry so can wait for a sale on those I guess.
