The router is WiFi6, not 5. Other than that, good post.

And, this is only good for folks that don't have any decent broadband providers available.

Residential: $120/Mo
Roam (RVs, nomads, campers): $150/Mo
Boats: $250/Mo

I couldn't find the info about speeds. Likely need to dig deeper https://www.starlink.com/service-plans

Base plan is around 50mbps down, upload is passable at around 15mbps. This service is great for people who live in remote areas. I don't have it myself but I work indirectly in the agriculture industry and it has been a godsend for our guys that had really slow and unreliable internet service. Starlink sells an Ethernet adapter for $30 that allows you to use your own WiFi router, mesh system,etc in conjunction with their equipment.

I like how they just decided to charge an extra $100 over the RV plan for boats.

It varries by location, but in short 25-150+mbps down, 5-25+ mbps up

I'm wondering if this would be a good backup option for emergency use situations. For instance, just buying the equipment, not activating it just yet and then activate if needed later. I guess if a hurricane hits and disrupts utilities, then most likely cell service will be nonexistent, so no way to activate, but … I'm not familiar with how this works.

I've been watching marketplace for a cheap starlink setup as a backup or when we go camping....this is really tempting.

From what I remember reading, it's best to fire up the dish ever month or two to update it....there was also a reddit post somewhere about someone powering the mini dish off of DC from an ecoflow battery that seems just about perfect for if power and cell went down
