And I'd love to buy a 4080 for $700, but that's not happening either.

I don't remember seeing any Ti Supers below $700, but there was an eBay open box non-Super 4070 ti deal for under $600.

Unless someone catches a really hot deal, this is a sketchy time to be buying skus above the 4070 super. That part most likely won't see any comparable new AMD or rtx 50 series hardware till Spring 2025 at the earliest. The msrp 4070 ti on up though *might* end up looking like poor values by late 2024 or (more likely) early 2025.

Yeah my bad. I'm thinking of the open box 4070ti super I was eyeing at the local MC. For regular 4070ti super prices, yeah I agree. This is probably a better value. Then again, a 4070 super is probably an even better value.

Is super always better? Is that liked the older cards that were "founders edition"?

I believe he was referring to performance per dollar. The 4070 Ti performs better, but...

According to Hardware Unboxed (link below), when gaming, the 4070 Ti ($673) offers less performance per dollar (or costs more per frame) than the 4070 Super ($590).

4070 Ti
1080p: $4.34 per frame
1440p: $5.80 per frame
1440p ray-tracing: $8.31 per frame
4k: $10.52 per frame

4070 Super
1080p: $4.04 per frame
1440p: $5.46 per frame
1440p ray-tracing: $7.76 per frame
4k: $9.83 per frame

I may have misunderstood your question, so I'll try again...

Super performs better than non-Super, and Ti performs better than non-Ti.

4070 Super is an upgrade from 4070. And 4070 Ti Super is an upgrade from 4070 Ti.

In order of performance, from worst to best, you have 4070, 4070 Super, 4070 Ti, 4070 Ti Super. The 4070 Super has always offered the best bang for the buck between these four.

The cost per frame is of as the super and ti are both listed at 800$
