For anyone considering Zipair Flex Biz service package, I would like to share my terrible experience. The Flex Biz package allows for changes and cancellations. The process as described by Zipair is (grammatical errors are left unaltered as this is a copy paste from their site)

1. Purchase Flex Biz package at the time of booking
2. While cancellation, please contact the Contact Center through email or chat.
3. Receive voucher information via email
4. When making your next reservation, please contact the contact center through email or chat.
There is a 3% fee for the voucher and it is valid for 180 days from issue date. These are stated on their website.

Here is my experience.
1. On July 18 2024, I purchased 3 round trip tickets with Flex Biz package from LAX to NRT for Dec 2024.
2. On July 24, I decided to extend the stay in Japan so I requested a change in return flight (via their contact center) from NRT to LAX to extend 2 more days.
3. On July 25, I received a responses stating that I will be refunded only the taxes I paid. I replied stating that I should be reimbursed for the whole amount since I purchased the Flex Biz package.
4 On July 25, Zipair responded stating that they will reimburse the whole amount less the 3% voucher fee. They also stated that I can rebook my return trip using the voucher. I understood these terms and advised Zip air to proceed.
5 On July 27, I received an email asking what language I prefer for the voucher. Keep in mind that all the correspondence is conducted in English and I am emailing an email address specifically dedicated to English. I replied that I prefer English. Seemed like a delay tactic.
6 On July 29, I received the voucher. Zipair does not allow vouchers to be used on the online booking process. You must book via email. I immediately requested a booking for the flight I wanted using the voucher.
7 On July 31, I sent an email asking about the status of the new booking as I never received any response to my new booking request. I sent additional email for the next few days requesting the same. I also used the chat service to ask about the status. No one can help. All they said was that it was escalated and they will get back to me once booking was completed. I asked how long it may take. They were unable to answer so I waited another few days. I asked daily on the status of the request as I wasn't sure if they even received my request. No one could help. THEY DO NOT HAVE A PHONE NUMBER!!!
8 After numerous chat sessions and emails, they finally responded on Aug 5. They will book the flight but they wanted an ADDITIONAL $484 for the new flights after deducting the voucher. At the time of my initial request for a new booking, the price for the flight was $520pp. By the time Zipair finally processed the rebooking, the price had increased to $651pp. The price increased to this level 1 or 2 days before they finally rebooked. They also asked for my credit card information which I clearly included in my original rebooking request. I wondered whether they were delaying the process even more so that they can charge more when the price increases again. I didn't understand why I should have to pay extra for THEIR DELAY in processing the booking. Considering the slow response on their side I was more than frustrated and opted to just accept the extra charge.

I have not taken the flight yet so I cannot comment on the actual flight but it makes me wonder… If what they say is true that there is insufficient staff to rebook a ticket in a timely manner, what other processes have been compromised? I hope aircraft maintenance and safety is not one of those compromised as I will be flying in December.
Zip is for the traveler that doesn't plan on having a lot of baggage and very flexible. Think of it as the Southwest of International travel. Maybe at this price it will be cheaper than flying any of the other airlines. Normal price is almost comparable to a normal airline once you factor in buying the package that includes food, picking seats and baggage. I would agree if you're doing the lay flat seats with the package it would be 100% worth the price point. Only issue I would have at that point is that it only flies into NRT. HND a lot closer to the center of Tokyo than NRT. I have flown in/out of NRT 4 times, but it only took one time going to HND to make it my go too. The food is top tier at HND.
It's so freaking nuts how RT to Japan from LAX is $423.00 BUT LAX to Idaho is damn near the same price.. ONE WAY

Anyone have an idea of the cost to check in a bag or for seat selection if traveling with family?

Flew them last September for about this price which is as low as it gets. Believe check-in luggage was an extra $140 round trip (for 1 luggage shared between 3 people), still worth it.

Decent plane but what kinda sucked was we were put in last row where seats didn't recline, and this was both ways! Next time might have to pay for seat selection.

they do make an effort to seat the parties in your itinerary together but not guaranteed. most will buy an extra luggage in tokyo so they're only paying for 1 way return home....i wanna say about $80? not sure.

Is the airline that doesn't have biz class buy you can upgrade to a lie flat seat? If so do you know how much that is?

I don't know where you're trying to get to in Idaho but Google Flights is showing flights between the two cities of LA and Boise for less than $100 in basic economy each way.

With the exception of the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday of course.

Japan has been on my list to visit for so long. Is this a good time to go? I typically like shoulder seasons to avoid the crowds, but things are still open.

To anyone considering this deal, I highly recommend booking direct through Zipair. Less issues will pop up than booking through a third party website.

I made a mistake in my post I'm flying to NRT via LAX on SQ and I'm flying back home from HND on JA but landing in SFO. This is March 20th and there's only a single flight that is non stop from SFO to BOI on March 20th that I can take and it's 312.00 + 80.00 for 2 bags.

Great time to go. You'd only want to avoid their summers. Depending on where you intend to go, it's going to be packed regardless especially with the current value of the yen.

OK yeah Alaska and United both operate SFO-BOI. United has 4x direct flights there a day so I seriously doubt that there's only one non-stop option.

As far as prices go, I now see why it's so expensive. March 20 is the prelude to Spring Break travel so that's why prices are inflated that whole weekend.

That being said, I did find a SFO-BOI flight but with a layover in Denver for $138 is basic economy.
