It's always hard to compare headphones, and noise cancelling headphones. Personally, if you're not a fan of Sennheiser already, they tend to have a more "neutral" sound. Sony has a bass-boosted neutral sound (Around 5-10dBA). On sheer quality (assuming the correct power to drive them), wired will almost always be superior.

For me, these are a miss and I would look elsewhere.

This is one of the better closed backs on the market, until you get to like the $1k+ price point.
Under 1 grand I don't think I'd go with anything else closed back.

At the sub-$500 price point, the AKG K371 (wired; not bluetooth) are a much better closed-back option than these.

To be fair, it's really up to the listener. Luckily, most places have a good return policy. Don't believe anyone who tells you that you need 100 hours to burn in headphones before they sound right (the origin for that myth is to put you outside a return window).

The only downside to the AKG K36(7)1 series is the build quality, but otherwise yeah it's a good alternative to these.
