Dreamcast: needs frame skip
PSP: 4:3 aspect ratio screen, so will have smaller image. Mostly needs game skip
GameCube: 5% of games will be playable
PS2: unplayable

Can stream from PC and can handle all older gen systems.

Pros:
- Comfortable
- Appealing design
- Good controls
- Right price (from 2 years ago though)
- Dual boot option
- N64 + streaming friendly

Cons:
- Design isn't stellar (joystick placement)
- Power button location
- DC, PSP, Saturn
- Not pocketable

I'm kind of a newbie to this. Have a couple Ambernic devices (with two more on the way lol) and my kids are loving them. Curious... What does needing frame skip mean?

P.s. These devices are addictive Smilie

It means it can't handle some games at the full 60 frames per second. With Frame skip off, gameplay won't appear smooth at times. With Frame skip on, some of the 60 frames that are supposed to appear on the screen every second will be skipped, which will help give the appearance of smoother gameplay.

And yes they're super addictive. I often find myself spending so much time tweaking them or deciding which game to play that I end up having little time left to play lol. I have too many that play up to PS1, N64, and Dreamcast, so I'm going to hold out for one that can play up to PS2 and GC.

I haven't used this model, but it seems like the 35XX models would be better than this unless you really want Android.

The xx line is honestly miles better than this IMO. Especially when you get them on sale.

Have this and love it, especially for the ergonomic feel of a enlarged SNES controller more or less. You don't have to do Android side, unless you want to really ( moonlight and android games), but I basically do it all in Linux. Currently playing through Half-life on it (see port master). This is a steal, but keep in mind it's because there's a lot of competition now vs a year ago when I picked it up.
Basically anything else out there RK3566 is going to be able to do the EXACT same things, it really comes down to looks and how it feels in your hands.
I originally got it because I started off with a vertical Gameboy style (OG 35xx) but I found I wish I had a thumb stick and vertical felt cramped for longer game play ( plus I wanted to play ports like HL, Stardew, and TMNT Shredders revenge)

35xx lineup's chipset(s) comes close but can't quite compete with the RK3566 on the top end stuff, but it might be splitting hairs in this over saturated market at this point

You can't go wrong with any of these devices. It just all comes down to personal preference. Me I like the gba clam shell edition, just because it looks exactly like a gba sp

It's good for on the couch, but I've found that they're actually pretty inconvenient to daily carry vs a small joypad + phone. yummy

I have both rg353p (snes colors) and rg353ps (gameboy colors) and I prefer the ps even though it has less ram and lacks android simply because of the bezel. I got a snes themed bezel sticker for my 353p but it doesn't look as nice a solid plastic bezel, plus the sticker glue peeks out from under the sticker slightly and messes with screen wiping.

If you don't care about that Anbernic logo bezel then the P is objectively better than the PS

I ended up getting the 35XX-H for $60 with coupon. More pocketable, can run N64 games, and is well reviewed.

any know if it can charge off of a real usb-c charger?

i have random retro consoles and it requires a USB-A to USB-C (essentially charging from a USB-A charging brick)

Currently using an S20fe plus dual sense for traveling. All GameCube games I've tried run smoothly with minimal effort. Currently playing Pokémon stadium with mons from my gameboy emulator. Good times.

Do these come with games preloaded or do you have to download the roms and emulators?
