Unlike the puns in the thread, this deal is long since dead. $1,159.99 now to 46203 Indy.

For what it's worth, I really like the taper. I didn't even realize the set I had been building was mostly tapered, until I bought a 30 lb set that wasn't ( 35, 40, 45 lb all tapered). The straight, not tapered, makes my fingers cramp. I do have larger hands, XL gloves usually. Just my two cents.
Interesting... the taper seems to work well with larger hands.

I have various dumbbells of different sizes and never even noticed the different handles/grips. I'll take a look at my 70's and see what they look like on my next workout. nod

I thought I wanted the rubber dumbbells too, but then I found those 2.5 pound PlateMate magnets you can put on each side of the iron ones. So now I have a full set for all practical purposes and only had to buy half as many dumbbells and two pairs of magnets. Saves a lot of money and space in the home gym.
That's actually a great idea! bulb

I've never experienced this, but I have very large hands.

Do either of you have small hands? Serious question - it can help others.
I wear medium sized gloves too, so I have medium sized hands?

Here are the two things I don't like about the handles on this dumbbell set:

1. The handles are tapered: I need to make a conscious effort to grip the smaller side of the handle properly and my grip is not as stable on the smaller side of the handle if I choose to grip near to the edge of the handle. Ok, I tend to work with heavier weights, so this problem might be specific to heavier weights.

2. The knurling on these dumbbells are very shallow and doesn't help much with my grip at all.

Just make your own like they do in third world countries...concrete and an iron rod, some molds, etc...and I promise you will not only have dumbbells afterwards, but you'll have a blast doing it and will learn some things in the process... 👌 Your welcome
