Lower than Prime Day at Amazon (~$239).

On one hand, I am holding out for the Paperwhite 6 (due in
The scribe has really helped me with just that. I picked up a scribe on Prime Day and love it.

Ridiculous that you can't set any writings to private and are forced to put all on their servers. Otherwise I was for sure getting a scribe. Now I may just get the regular paperwhite.

Damn. Do they really do that now? Glad I stopped updating when they added "recommendations" to the home screen. Will have to look elsewhere for my next e-reader.
Yes, but it's only when you exit the book back to your library. It's really not a big deal.
I always keep my kindle offline.

First thing I do:
1. Download firmware & update
2. Factory reset the kindle
3. Keep on Airplane mode - never connect to wifi
4. Connect kindle and send .mobi books

It will show something like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/kindle/c...the_cloud/

Honestly though for the price I got it for ($85) and the fact that I can get my books dirt cheap, the dialogue box is really a small ding.

The paperwhite is an amazing piece of technology. I read in bed and it puts me to sleep (warmest temp + dark mode) faster than a sleeping pill!

Thanks for this - I'm a Rocketbook user but was interested in using (even less) paper Wink I don't need Amazon to know even more of my business, though.

yeah and it would be an easy feature and an obvious one, so makes me think they purposely want the data. Sucks brcause I only want a tablet that looks like paper, which i dont think there are other ones...

Just feels weird that people say they are using it for "journals" and then it's going to amazon servers. lol.

I thought maybe I'd still get it and never connrct it online, but then would have to download books to install them, externally I assume. Or I could put it in airplane mode when writing and then delete writings before taking it out of it I guess. lol.

This might be the lowest I've seen the scribe other than refurbished. Great deal!

I wanted to share my experience after using it for note-taking in class for about six months. Sometimes, it freezes when I try to swipe the page left or right. While I can still write and choose the pen type, I can't move the page without rebooting.

The next best alternative to this is remarkable. But for note taking at this price, I can live with this occasional issue.
I'd definitely recommend an iPad for note taking in school. Graduated undergrad before they were an option, but went through grad school a few years back with one and it was perfect paired with OneNote.
