It's a fair deal.The ram could be higher and the power supply is only 500w. People have been complaining about intels newest chips but for the price point it's a good deal.

I'm also waiting with bated breath to see what the comments will be like. Desperately want to buy a gaming PC soon with a max budget of $1,200, but each time there's a deal posted that looks goods spec for the money there are inevitably people who trash the Power Supply Unit, claim the processor will explode, or that the parts are generally cheap and low quality! I think I'll just end up buying something at Costco at this rate as at least the return process would be easy if indeed something does go wrong!

So does it make sense to go with anything with lesser specs than this Alienware or would this be considered a bare minimum starting point for a decent gaming rig?

This one at Costco looks like a little better price and a (2) year warranty:

I just posted a link to one at Costco while you were probably replying. My kid says he usually plays mostly first person shooter types of games so not sure how much of a gaming rig is required for that? Want something that will last 4 or 5 years or more if possible.

I think that's one I was about to pull the trigger on, but so many people on here said that it was like playing Russian roulette as ALL 13th and 14th gen processors with base wattage of 65W are affected by a CPU failure issue. So I'm totally confused and looking at AMD processor deals now! Haha! I don't remember it being this difficult. But will have to get one soon for kids schoolwork.

The gpu in this deal is a little better and more than justifies the $80 upcharge. Yeah it has less space and ram, but really the ram is a nonissue. upgrading video cards is far more expensive than adding memory or space. my son and I built a gaming PC with far less gpu specs than this one a few years back and he still plays all of the latest games with no problems. Edit: I should add my sons gaming pc "only" has 16gb of ram and its more than enough to play any first person shooter game.

The best thing to do is ask your teenager what kind of games do they play, do they play popular triple A demanding games or do they play easy to run popular games like Roblox, Minecraft or any popular Indy game.
If the answer is I play indie games and easy to run games then yeah this pc with a 1080p and 165hz monitor will do fine even for more demanding games. But if the answer is I like to play triple A games which require a beefier video card to run then this is not for you.
To be honest odds are this is fine and will get the job done, just keep in mind 1080p monitor with at least 165hz is where you need to be. This will not only be more cost friendly it will also ensure an enjoyable smooth gameplay.

Welp I liked the i7 13700k so much that I have 3 builds with one of those processors in each one 😅. They are beasts of processors for the money but I guess time will tell.
