Southwest website pricing is messed up as of late. The promo destination list page shows higher prices than what's available on the low fare calendar. Thought it was a glitch in the matrix last week when I saw it, but nope. Fun times at SW and it will be interesting when they really implement the upcoming changes.

So for what it's worth, if you have the flexibility use the low fare calendar page to select dates.

I can't wait for assigned seats, seating options, etc. It'll save the hassle of those saving seats for their friends- claiming they're in the bathroom, encounters with the people who have to have their exact boarding position in line, people lying about preboarding needs, large people blocking seats because they absolutely have to have the aisle and don't want anybody next to them (and huffing when they actually have to let people in), late boarders asking you to move so they can sit with their companions, etc. etc. etc. SW's model worked when America was a nicer place.

Assigned seats don't bother me. Paying for bags does. Once that gets instituted I'll definitely price out others first. Southwest's allure is no nickel and diming for bags.

No great deal this time around. I've been waiting for the next sale but the flight between Kansas City and LA was still $220 one way.

???? If you're needing a specific day, possibly, but $129 OW NS is the cheapest from LAX on the low fare calendar, $138 from Long Beach or Ontario (stops),

On limited routes for the following 14-21 days. Different than their "regular" sales.

Yes, I needed a specific day of October 20th. I've been hoping that the price would go down because I forgot to buy it when they went on sale 3 months ago. But no sale today.

Black Friday, $500 for $399. Stack with Sam's Plus and Sam's CC for additional 5%.
So you're referencing a deal that someone would have needed to participate in 9 months ago? In this time-bound deal thread? LOL.

I wish I could like this comment 100 times. It's so true. Full disclosure: I generally fly Delta and only occasionally Southwest. So many co-workers for years always seemed to brag about the seating system. While I was kinda ok with the numbered boarding (better than gate lice method traditional airlines had for awhile), the actual seating inside plane has just generally been a mess for me.

Gate lice wouldn't be a thing if airlines actually enforced their carryon bag rules. But no, they always let people take a rolling bag with a huge backpack that they know won't fit under the seat. Then they announce that the bins are full so they have to take your bag and check it.

I'm glad that they are fixing their seating system too, but no it never worked and it was always terrible

Gate lice will exist as long as there is a first come first served line. Hence why even the early boarding zones crowd the gate. It's not just about carry on bags.
