Why is this a $150 hoodie in the first place? Can anyone comment on the quality?

First review: The first one I bought fell apart after the first machine wash. All the stitching let loose. I returned for a new one (hassle free!) and the new one is pilling really badly after a couple washes. For this price, I expect it to hold up for years. This just isn't the case.

Also, this is mostly plastic.
No thanks

This is more like a pullover style jacket. It's not like a typical cotton hoodie. It's 4-way stretch, water repellent, has insulation.

Because North Face didn't advertise on the entire front side.

North face quality has gone downhill and has become a fashion brand at this point. They also don't like to honor their lifetime warranties. So easy pass.

Honestly, no different from any higher end brands, including Arcteryx. They now use small, cheap plasticky finishes and logos applied like a sticker rather than sewn on, even for jackets retailing up to $500.

Does this run on the smaller size or true to size? I would typically get myself an XXL in most things, but I know some big brands can either run too small or sometimes even bigger.

Get a real hoodie from American Giant. The cotton yarn is sourced in the USA and is made in the USA too. The quality is unmatched. Slate even ran an article about it back in 2016.
