Need a deal on the OTA (Over-the-Air/Antenna) version, which appears to be discontinued as they don't have it on their site any longer. Meh for the cable version, because you still have to pay for that monthly subscription.

It's all in so lifetime subscription is included. The issue is it's only cable, won't work for over the air/antenna.

Yes, the cable monthly subscription. Unless you can find me a lifetime cable subscription, that would be amazing. I'm still rocking the lifetime SiriusXM from 2010.

Watch Craigslist/marketplace. I have bought a couple TiVo Bolt models with all in lifetime service for $100/ea. double check it's a model that supports OTA- not all do obviously, but some can do cable and OTA and sellers sometimes aren't aware.
Might not be quite as recent as the Edge version, but works fine for OTA recordings.
I really shouldn't complain - since my 12 year old Roamio 4-tuner OTA still works fine (though the apps are unusable) , but if it fails, I'm in a ditch
Can someone introduce me to the world of these cable TV boxes? It's a bit confusing and I don't know where to start. For reference I want some type of IPTV box where I can watch American and Indian TV channels, including sports from both countries. I don't want to pay a monthly subscription, lifetime / one time is fine. Any reputable boxes / companies?

This is not the product you are looking for. TiVo is a paid for cable company tv subscription product. TiVo charges a monthly fee and for the cost of the box. This all in subscription is just a way to pay upfront instead of month to month. Normally people pay upfront for the cost of the box and pay a monthly payment for TiVo ui guide service. It's well worth it but best to get the all in subscription service.
The type of product you seek is something like this
S5 Max Powerful Smart Box 256GB Micro SD 64GB Flash Drive, 4320p Resolution
I can't speak to how it works. Try an Amazon search.
Unless your CC uses a cable card, you're screwed.
They do not support VoIP for end users. Only companies.
TiVo has not changed with the times. They always shoot themselves in the foot.
They had a 4 tuner 2TB OTA which they got rid of in lieu of a 2 tuner 500gb version. They are clowns.
Their Stream 4K had so much potential if you were able to use it with your TiVo DVR. But they chose not to, and the FireStick 4k runs rings around the Stream 4k.
I have a Bolt OTA/Cable and a Cable only roamio which is useless except for watching shows recorded OTA on my Bolt.
Run away from TiVo as fast as you can.

The tuner in the Bolt is better than the one in the Edge.
Had a Roamio Pro for years and love it, but the biggest issue for me at this point is the insane price of monthly cable these days.
No wonder people are dumping cable left and right, the price is simply outrageous considering how much content has migrated off cable into streaming. Dozens of channels are nothing more than block repeats of old shows these days.
