Are you connecting appliances directly or connecting the battery to the whole home via a transfer switch?
I'm imagining you running around the house with this behemoth plugging in every appliance you might use during the peak rate hours.
That's your imagination, I just happen to have all of my most consuming devices in the same side of the house: fish tank, TV & other electronics. Nothing a little cord management can't solve.

That is a very loaded question that is very hard to answer without significant research and details such as location, amount of Sun vs shade/clouds, how many panels could you even put out and would they be angled to the sun or flat on your roof/ground, many more things that could effect production of solar energy. Then on the battery and use size it would be best to know your average usage per day or week in kWh. Then the question is, how much are you willing to risk running out of power because if it's raining for 3 days, do you want enough battery backup to survive those 3 days or would you cut back to essential use only? Seasonal solar production could be a problem too because here in MA I can produce 1000kWh+ in July but less than 300kWh in December even if I remove snow when it does gather. So what might work in summer months won't work for off grid in winter months. I could go on, but you can see the problem.
