Curious why this isn't getting more traction. I haven't seen a sale on this lens before (only for the Gen 1 version) and it seems like the Gen 1 was pretty popular and this only improved upon it (vibration compensation).

It's probably because it's a little "short" for a zoom lens in this range. You can get the Sony 70-200 for $1099 directly from Sony. Although the Sony lens is one stop slower, it's probably a better quality lens on the full frame Sonys.
