my 12 mini gets $575 trade-in, not too shabby
Should I get this or wait for the Iphone 16 trade in deal for Xfinity.
Got a 12 mini too - hopefully deals come out during the holidays with elevated trade values. thinking it might even happen sooner with the way the economy is?

24 month bill credits. Any changes or accelerate payment the bill credits are forfeited. Therefore the phone is locked for two years.
TMO also has changed to this bill credit model which absolutely sucks!

For T-Mobile, you have an option to buy from Apple Store and the phone will be unlocked.
Seems like the best route is:
1. Stock up when Apple gift cards are 10-15% off
2. Buy a new, unlocked iPhone directly from Apple (trade in your old phone if compelling)
3. Use a site like prepaidcompare.net to find a cheap plan

Having to wait to unlock would be a bit less painful if their international service worked…at all. Tried it last year and got the notification after landing that it was activated but data never worked throughout Japan and SE Asia. On the plus side they never charged me for the times I tried to use it.
If you have better info that bill credits remain, that would be great to know otherwise, really disappointing from TMO.
I have three lines with T-Mobile, with free iPhones after bill credits. I paid off one iPhone and unlocked it to use a eSIM from another provider. Yes, the ~$30 'equipment credt' stopped, but an equivalent 'account credit' was applied to my bill. This was about 7 months ago. If their policy has changed since then, you have to call them about it.

Yeah I am not completely sure on the change. Just going off that previous post. I paid off a phone last year and still get the bill credits. Someone with recent experience would need to chime in.
