What's the difference between this version and the older white version?

I have this monitor, and there hasn't been many in depth reviews that I've seen regarding it. The stand/base is certainly different, it's flat so it feels like it doesn't take up so much desk real estate. It does have 2x HDMI 2.1 ports so I am able to get 240hz on HDMI, so it's not limited to the display port. It does not say that it's mini-led like Odyssey Neo, but I do believe it's brighter than the original CRG9. I had some gift cards at Best Buy so I payed a bit under $800 for it so this price seems very attractive.

Overall, I came from a 35 inch LG and this is a nice upgrade. The only real complaints are glare if I have my window blinds wide open on a sunny day, it get a bit annoying. Also, prepare for your graphics card to work a bit harder to push the 5120x1440 rez, it's pretty close to 4k in raw pixels

Possible solution copied from Reddit. The solution for me was a post at Reddit I think, when someone with Samsung 49" monitor wake-op problems had their monitor connected to an extension branched outlet (some call it Power Strip) with built-in surge protection. He replaced the extension branched outlet with built-in surge protection for an extension branched outlet without surge protection. I did the same, and the problems disappeared. Coincidence, I don't know? But, the monitor wakes up properly now. Simple measure worth trying.

Thanks for the reply, I don't have outlet without surge protection. But I'm going to try to directly plug in to wall outlet.
But I guess I gotta pray to not have any power surge. I bought it for $1000.

Interesting. I have it hooked up to my work laptop and my gaming PC, both seem to work fine with waking it up. Do you have the auto input option turned on?

Is it good for coding ? Or does it feel stretched will less real estate for the IDE ?

Don't own this but have a Dell 49" doesn't feel stretched as long as you're looking at more than 2 files simultaneously. Otherwise, ultra wide isn't worth it. I look at 4 files simultaneously, copilot and console and helps me not have to worry about flipping through files

It reduces your vertical real estate so it isn't ideal for coding. With that being said, you can have 3 windows side by side so you can be referencing docs and have your chat open while coding.

You will likely need to adjust your workflow and it may or may not work for people.

Just to comment, I got this deal when it dropped last time. You can get $50 off in the app (it was $625 pretax). To get an edu account, I just signed up with my old college email. I picked it up at Best Buy. I also got a $75 best buy credit for pickup (it looks like this isn't offered now)

I've loved the monitor so far. I don't use it for gaming, just work. it's 2 months old and is working well. I read there are longevity issues, so I'm hoping it continues to perform well

iMO it's a steal and a game changer if you can get $50 off in the app!
