Seems like a solid deal for the 65 L men's if you are wanting a full featured bag in this size range and willing to trade off some weight (a lightweight bag it is not).

60L would definitely be pushing it. 45L is usually considered the upper limit for most airlines. so be prepared to be sent back to bag checkin, though you can definitely luck out.

High Sierra tends to be on the heavier side. You still need to try on the backpack before you buy it. The fit is everything!

Usually 45L bag is the upper limit for carry-on, and since this bag is a sturdy heavy-duty one for days of hiking, structure of this bag would probably be fixed and limit the possibility of putting inside carry-on measure cage. Besides, this bag itself is around 2.1kg, a carry-on weight limit is usually between 7kg~10kg, you might want to get a lightweight clamshell backpack such as ula camino, hanchor breccia, and the popular osprey farpoint/fairview.
