google streamer is honestly pretty garbage, they really dropped the ball
old processor, not as much support, doubled the price from the chromecast,
like WTF google?

Anything Google touches turns to crap.. they will force everything through the cloud and make it run like garbage like they always do. Check out Google graveyard for more reference. Personally wouldn't buy anything they make ever again.

Every time this drops to this price, there's a lengthy discussion about age of hardware, capabilities and comparisons to other equipment.

For anyone interested, a simple search will provide much information. I've had mine since this version came out and it serves my purpose.

I've heard it both ways. Some say the upscaling works well, some say it actually made it worst than the original. Confused

I trawled conversations about this for months casually, and in the end bought one used on ebay for $135 have zero regrets. I used to have an appleTV 4k, then a roku ultra, and I like the shield tv pro best. It's not slow, I can side-load apps, I used ProjectIvy to make the home screen what I wanted, and it direct plays all of my MKV plex rips instead of transcoding everything like my ATV did.

Good unit, but Nvidia really needs to put a new model out already with a better remote and all codecs supported.

The released google device will not have better specs than this (aside from a faster ethernet port) IIRC

How does that make sense? It's easy to stream at the highest possible quality in Plex and Kodi. Especially if you're streaming locally.
