old processor, not as much support, doubled the price from the chromecast,
like WTF google?
Maybe they're realizing they need to discount this now due to its ancient hardware.

That streamer needed to have the latest tensor processor, period. Then it can stay relevant for 5+ years easily. Instead we have a "22% faster" processor which is unbelievably disappointing for how long it's been. Some of us use our Google TVs for GeForce Now and we need a bit of power to keep out the local bottlenecks.
The CCWGTV is basically useless for GFN even though you can technically run it.
they took away the chromecast and are trying to be an appletv, smart home hub, etc
Wish I would've just bought it 3.5 years ago.

It's getting outdated in other ways, though. It doesn't support the AV1 codec. And it's barely getting software updates anymore. The last update was over a year ago and that was a "hotfix."
Nvidia is making so many bazillions off of AI that I don't think they care to support this anymore, or release a new one.

It's great. It has no competition with everything it can do. Other devices may work well for others, not for everyone.
Instead I picked up a Tivo Stream 4k slickdeal a couple of years ago and it's been great. It's almost as good as the shield, and I think I only paid $30 for it. Video performance beats the smart apps on my Vizio, but my only complaint is being limited to a single remote. The remote itself is great, but it only allows one to be connected to it.
The lack of HDR support for Youtube videos is a big problem for me.
