CB does not require a license, so you can use it for whatever purpose you'd like. For example, great for staying in touch with the kids when on a camping trip, etc.

In the early 90s when I was a teen, many of us had CBs. We used to play CB tag aka "rabbit". One car would drive off and hide, like in a dark spot, or sparsely populated area, or construction site, etc… and give clues to the other players. They would seek us by using the signal strength meter and the clues we would give.

Spent a couple summers playing a few times a week from 10pm till sunrise.

No drugs, no booze, fueled by convenience store food and drink, in the era of 95 cent gasoline.

Pretty great memories.

I may check it out. I remember my dad putting an Antron 99 antenna on the roof for me. I could talk to people from many miles away.

How do you power this thing? I see 'direct-to-battery install or powering through your 12V port,' but I'm not sure I'm following.

"12V port" is what used to be the cigarette lighter. Most cars don't come with them anymore but the port is still there.

James Earl Jones had a little fun with truckers, using Darth Vader as his handle... 😈
