Snapdragon and Windows leaves a lot to be desired…

Don't expect MacOs levels of performance and there are lots of incompatibilities with x86 programs, because of how the processor runs them.

A nice laptop, no doubt, but at least check if the programs that you want to use are compatible.

PS: Look into the 2024 Ryzen laptops. Ridiculous power and efficiency.

The prices of these laptops need to come down. It should be more affordable for general and average user. I am not asking a premium laptop for $300, but something less premium and decent specs.

Having to own the Galaxy Book 4 Edge with the SnapDragon. You really have to learn the comprises of the chip. With that said, I would wait till next year to revisit the compability issues with these snapdragon chips in ARM especially when it comes to printer driver issues.

What price range do you think they'll drop to?

I hear people say to wait for these new co-pilot & snap dragon x elite, plus laptops to drop to a lower price in the future. When? late 2024, 2025?

Right now you can pick up an open box Yoga Slim 7x with OLED, excellent condition for $812. Don't bother waiting: https://www.bestbuy.com/product/l...=excellent

Apple really nailed the mx at launch. I guess windows have something coming for it? I am two decade windows user and got Mac just for the sake of battery.

My dev machine is WSL still, thinking to pony up for M1 max 16"

Works great if you are confident you can use the App listed basically anything in browse + Zoom+Teams office apps. There are more listed like photoshop but I don't care about those apps for my personal use.

for more "advanced" and I'll specific examples here

vmware/etc do not work - this is a problem for me
many VPNs do not work - this is a problem for me
google drive does not work, like wtf?

https://www.techradar.com/pro/her...is-missing - if it's not native, don't count on it to work right unless you saw someone demo it or tested it on youtube for ya.

SnapDragon will be great for many, just like Macbook Air but MacBook is far more mature with Apple curating the stack and force marched developers to align.

AMD new AI chip has zero software issues and better battery life than before. I'll take 11 hours and zero app issues over 18 hours and not able to run everything I need to run.

I am still Mac primary but I wanted to get a SnapDragon as a second but I am not gonna since I need key items like VPN. And I run PIA (arm is in beta), Pure (no mention), Proton (no mention?), Nord (does not work) , etc. I need all of them to run native and in chrome browsers. anyone know first hand? Cuz I don't feel like buying to test and find out it doesn't work.
