As a side note, you can substitute this ram kit for the one that normally comes with a microcenter computer parts bundle. Simply add the cpu, motherboard, and this ram kit individually to cart. As an example, you could get the r7 7700x, the Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2 mobo, and this 64gb (2x32) ddr5 6000 cl40 ram kit for $369. This is $31 cheaper than the standard bundle which costs $400 while only coming with half as much (32gb, 2x16) memory. The 32gb kit normally included in the bundles does have moderately better latency and better memory chips for overclocking though.

Bah, sold out while I questioned cl40 vs lower latencies.

Thanks OP! Repped! Was able to pick up two kits for my build. Basically ran to MC as the price is paid upon pickup not online, so wasn't sure if the price mistake would be corrected if I didn't pick it up in time

It's decent, but not incredible. Ddr5 6000 is the sweet spot for amd zen 4 (and zen 5) processors, since that allows a ratio of 2000(fabric clock):3000(memory controller clock):3000(memory clock, remember ddr means double data rate). While intel processors can benefit somewhat from faster memory the actual performance benefits are generally fairly minor for all but the most memory bandwidth intensive workloads. The cas latency of 40 is fairly poor (and by extension, the rest of the secondary timings are also likely to be somewhat poor). You'll likely lose a few percentage points of performance at base xmp settings compared to cl30 kits, but so long as you're not manually tuning/overclocking your memory the impact on performance should once again be fairly low. This memory kit most likely doesn't use hynix memory chips, so it probably won't overclock very well.

In conclusion, so long as you'd be using basic xmp/expo/docp this memory shouldn't hold most builds back in any meaningful way. If you will be manually overclocking/tuning your ram, the performance difference will be far more stark compared to properly overclocked and tuned memory using hynix memory chips.

Damn, went from 5 in stock to zero in 10 minutes at the Minneapolis one. I should have just pulled the trigger.

That would depend whether you're trying to use them on your windshield or in a computer.
