The rule of pixel is never buy on launch. Always black Friday. They consistently make launch seem like a good deal and undercut it on BF by $200. I write this on my P7, while planning an upgrade in November

FYI - for those ordering from the Google Store, I came across the promo code "supersafshort" on a Reddit thread that gives an extra $50 off. Just pulled the trigger on a P9PXL (ew that acronym) and got the discount successfully - stacked with 10% Google One discount / trade in / $200 credit.

EDIT to add that "supersaf" as of 8.20 is a valid code (original supersafshort seems expired)

Increase price by $100 again.
Back then:
Pixel 7 $599
Pixel 8 $699
Pixel 9 $799
Why?

Only problem (and this is more of a me problem) is I want the latest of both Google and Samsung. If you traded your s23 ultra for the Google, then you're stuck with dog shit trade in values of the Google phones towards the s24 ultra or the eventual s25 ultra. I could a pixel 9 pro xl for free with my s23 ultra but then my pixel 8 pro only gets $300 towards a Samsung.
I am paying around $500 now after trade in for an S24.... so my S23 trade in value sucks anyway, also I get the $200 BBY gift card which is the icing on the cake and makes up for it. Hopefully samsung this year took a big pounding to their phone sales cause of their horrible trade ins and will make some nice ones next year.

Only towards a higher capacity version of the 9 or 9 pro (trade in value cannot exceed phone cost). $830 towards the base 9 pro xl. Ironically, 13 pro will probably be worth more in 2 years 😞 dunno what I would do with my 8 pro if I trade my 13 pro for the 9 pro
Yeah its tempting but the 7 years software update is very good. I think there's 2 years left on the 13's so I'll probably wait until the Pixel 10 or iPhone 17 to make the switch.

Wait for 299-399 like me. Should drop a lot next year.
I don't anticipate it going that low but $600ish is where it will land by the holiday season. My biggest gripes with Pixels are the trade-in values which mostly are non-existent. Glad to see at least Google is respecting their older Pixels for this one though!

I'm on a pixel 4a, so I'm used to sitting it out and saving my cash. I did think this year would be the time, but the AI stuff leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
The AI stuff is actually really awesome. It's great how quickly it can source solutions to questions. Some questions could take you a good 20 minutes reading online just to get an answer. It's a huge time saver. I had it read a PDF brochure of a new credit card I got and I asked the AI to summarize the credit card perks in 10 bullet points. It would have taken me a good 30+ minutes to read it all. It spat out a summary in seconds. Very well summarized. Right to the point.

I appreciate the pushback and I agree that does sound really useful. I hadn't encountered a need to use it that way, but if I do I will give it a shot.

I've been using Gemini for a month or so (whenever it opened up) and I have found it anything but helpful. It consistently hallucinates answers so I don't think I can trust it with anything important.

I also think the image editing and alteration features look ugly and under baked. I'm also just opposed to that kind of use in general so I may just be a curmudgeon.

With my Pixel 8 Pro trade-in and if you count store credit as money, a Pixel 9 Pro 128 GB is basically free excluding tax. To get the 10% google store credit, get the Google One Premium 5TB plan.

please do not use ai to answer complex questions it is wrong at least 25% of the time. I checked and assessed statistics personally and it wasn't correct.

politics can also play a role in the ai lying and pushing agendas making them unreliable for controversial topics

using it to get an A in a class by having it answer questions may also be questionable as it is wrong enough to only get you a C avg.
good for under achievers but bad for those that want good grades.
though C's get degrees

Has anyone else noticed that the Best Buy trade-in for a Pixel 6a was lowered from $225 to $190? I check a couple of hours ago and it was $225. Now, as I'm about to order a Pixel 9 Pro, I'm seeing it as $190.

The Google Store still shows $225 trade-in, but their $200 store credit is pretty useless to me compared to Best Buy credit.

What model number did you select from the trade-in list? I couldn't find its model number MMPT3LL/A.
I just chose iphone 12 64gb black Verizon; model number doesn't matter. When you do the trade it in just tell them it's Verizon. I previously traded in an iphone 11 64gb Total Wireless for the pixel 8 deal and I told them it was Verizon. They didn't verify carrier.

Thanks for your reply. I just placed an order

I use it for other things like looking at my kitchen counter top and seeing a tomato and lemon (insert any food items) that look like they aren't going to survive another day or two and I'll ask the AI: "Give me three recipes using tomatoes and lemons. Also include rice/bread/etc with this recipe". It will spit out 3 recipe ideas. Huge time saver. It also gets my creative juices flowing as I might use a recipe idea but modify it a little.

Anyone knows if Google has a restocking fee?

So let's say if you return the phone because you don't like it, will you get a full refund?

Another solid use case, thanks! This is definitely a situation I've been in and will be again.
