If you're looking to buy a P9, definitely do so at Best Buy over Google store:

1. BB GC has more flexibility vs. Google Store credit
2. BB will deduct taxes off your trade = more saving
3. Trade instore = no headache vs. send in trade to Google's 3rd party
4. Easy return/replacement should there be some defects. Google CS is horrid.

Check the trade in values against the Google Store. Best Buy has a better trade in for the 6a but Google a better one for the 8.

Though a $100 Best Buy gift card is better for most people than a $100 Google Store credit, so that's a factor too.

Super bummed that they are running this for the iPhone 12 Pro but not 12 Pro Max. I have one just sitting around that I'd love to trade in.

The title is misleading, you have to pay the tax of $799, not 0.

Taxes could potentially vary by state to a certain extent, but most people will probably not end up paying taxes on the $799 total once the transaction is complete. Due to the way they handle the price adjustment, taxes will likely be much less. I would expect that someone who trades in an iPhone 12 for the P9 will pay taxes on $150 or less when all is said and done (and that may also vary depending on the model and promotional trade value). That's based on a previous similar bonus trade deal. At any rate, it's not something that's going to be quickly and easily spelled out in the title.

Yeah, it can certainly vary by state, so I'll try to avoid making any sweeping generalizations on it. I just went into my BestBuy account and found the receipt history for my two Pixel 7 purchases from a couple of years ago. Oddly enough, even the taxes charged on those two orders were different. One was a mail order and one was in-store pickup, although both trade-ins were done in-store (at two different stores). Anyway, the tax amounts were $2.54 and $9.69 on them (screenshot of the summary attached) So it looks like my final tax was charged on $39 for one of the orders and $149 for the other. I recall there was a bit of a difference in how they handled the two credits at the time as well for whatever reason. Anyway, it was definitely taxed at a significantly lower rate than the $499 original price for mine. Hopefully that's the case for others out there as much as possible. I believe I recall seeing others report similar experiences with the taxes at the time, but I didn't really dig into it.

I have a straight talk iPhone 12, I chose Verizon as the carrier and plan to go to a best buy store for my trade in, are chances good that they will take the straight talk iPhone 12 being it's not on the carrier list? Anyone had success recently in similar circumstances?

Just came to say...
I remember when phones would release twice a year with the new & upgraded midyear chips (Snapdragon 800, then the 801). I would get a new phone every 6 months and it was great.
Eventually down the road I switched to Samsung. OnePlus phones prices eventually matched Samsung so the value was gone, and Pixel phones hadn't really kept up to my performance standards.

These Pixel 9 series phones are finally to a point where I desire now. But I've Apple'd my way into Samsung because it's been 4 generations straight. My whole family has Galaxy S phones, we've all got their watches, we've all got their earbuds... we're buried in the ecosystem now. I'll wait one more year, if the Pixel 10's have the same wow factor, and Samsung stays the same (again), I'll make the switch. Hopefully they'll have a Pixel Flip by then for my wife.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. Try the veal.

Yes but in previous trade in experiences, they don't care.

Had planned to wait until Black Friday. But would love to get it earlier.

Tough to pass up this deal.
