SUMMARY/NET COST FOR PIXEL 9 128GB: ~$168Note 1: I chose to pick up the Pixel 9 in-store (scheduled for next week). Note 2: YMMV regarding how much your Metro store will charge for the iPhone 12. The first store I went to wanted to charge a $25 activation fee (which I expected), plus an additional $80 for a BS "essential package" that included 3 months of insurance, a screen protector, and a case. With a quote of over $300, I said "no thanks" and went to a second location. That one only sold Android devices, so my third stop was at the former "corporate" store, where they didn't charge an activation fee; the only "extra" was a $4 insurance charge for the first month. I got the last device on the shelf, which had been opened so the rep waived that $4 fee, and also knocked $5 off the plan's first month charge. In a nutshell, this deal may not be as slick if all of your local Metro stores engage in shady upsell tactics.
Google doesn't seem to get that Gen 6 and 7 owners, well, they should be treated like iPhone 12 owners. Those people, especially Gen 6 owners, they've put up with some stuff. Many of them will never return to Google.
