Could this be used to access my ten year old laptop that I forgot the password to and doesn't power on anymore? Like, could I take it apart and put it's hard drive into this enclosure to transfer the stuff to my current laptop?

Yes. As long as the drive isn't encrypted.

yes you can. I have used these docks to transfer programs and info for a long time. I would probably buy a duel hd dock for just a few bucks more ($25):

First check if it's a SATA drive or a newer M.2 SSD.
Of course there are also external M.2 enclsures that you can connect via USB.

Could this be used to save PS4 and Xbox one games to play on and off from previous generation game consoles?

I would recommend just buying first. There's gonna be that one day when you're like, oh crap I need this. You'll be so glad you can just crack one out from a drawer instead of ordering at a higher price and having to wait.

According to Amazon, I bought a variant of this about a year ago to read a drive from a dead laptop. My Windows computer couldn't read any data on it, but my Linux computer did. Now that I've pulled everything I need of that drive, I can use it as an external drive on both computers

You can find this for $20 pretty regularly. Don't feel bad if you miss this deal. I only paid $10 for it.
