You do not have to trade it in at the same time as pickup at BB. I traded in my last two Pixel phones at Best Buy after I picked up my new Pixel phone. One I did later that day, the other the next day.

I have an iphone 12 pro 256gb unlocked. the only trade in option best buy has is for verizon iphone 12 pro 128gb. i just chatted with a best buy representative and they told me my phone has to match the verizon 128gb option and that my 256gb iphone will only be valued at $230 and wont get the $999. they told me in this case i can visit the store. just a heads up.

They credit your original form of payment. You actually get more than the trade in value credited as they refund the taxes on the trade in value also.
