90% of morons on this thread will ruin the deal by asking dumb questions to Best Buy and possibly altering them to check trade in phone in details. Just keep your mouth shut when you go there to pick up the phone

Well a day ago it was 799. Lol
Google Fi pulled a similar stunt with their offer when the Samsung S23 was introduced in 2023. At first they offered very high trade-in value for iPhones and free storage upgrade (order 128GB model get 256GB model, order 256GB model get 512GB model). Then about a week later, the trade-in values were reduced significantly (like from $300 for iPhone11 down to $1xx) and no more storage upgrades.

Anyone know if when we are doing the iPhone 12 pro Mail in trade in, we can get back the trade in phone if they don't accept that it has the correct model number?

So much confusion about this. Frustrating we can't do it in person
You can choose pickup at store and give your tradein same day. You don't need to mail them it's only if you order it to be deliver by shipping.

There was never any option to pick up in store for the pixel 9 pro. Only for the base 9 model

Tap the MG.... All that is is the part number.
I can see that it toggles between A2172 and MGH63LL/A. But if the MGxxxx is the Part Number why didn't Apple list it under a category of "Part Number"?

I got one just now! Black 9 Pro 128GB!

BUT, my order details don't mention anything about my iphone 12 Pro trade in. I had been refreshing the screen and each time it reloaded, it showed the $899 trade in.

Did it somehow not stick?? Should my order details show the trade-in device I chose and the amount?

Good grief....

It should mention the trade in. That's part of the transaction and order. Most important part in this case, ha

It can't be added in. You'll have to cancel and reorder. Maybe these phones will come back in stock over the next few days once the initial rush is over.

Those who ordered it prior shows $999 still so I think we are locked in! Regarding the "Model number" It technically is not what people are referring to the MG.... That Best buy shows on their site. That is technically the PART number NOT Model number.
The iPhone 12 Pro A2341 is the United States model and it features the broadest 5G spectrum. Every single iPhone sold in the USA from Apple unlocked and every single carrier in the US is the same A2341 iPhone It doesn't matter the color size of the capacity or anything that is the model number. The part number corresponds specifically to if it was allocated to Verizon T-Mobile Apple store unlocked and what color and storage size. It's basically for inventory purposes only.
I agree that anyone who placed an order already should be locked in with their trade value. I suspect that Google may have given them a predetermined schedule of how many promo offers to give for each targeted device. Like the first 1000 orders of iPhone 12 trades get a $799 trade bonus while the next 1000 get $699 or something like that and once they hit that number for a given model, the next discount level kicks in. The bonus trade value above the actual phone trade value is almost certainly a subsidy from Google and designed to jump-start the early order process, especially for particular targeted device users who they feel that they might be able to lure to their ecosystem.

As far as the model / part number, the Best Buy order info includes that MGxxxLL number for the trade-in model selected when the order was placed. If you pull up your order history, it shows up there (screenshot attached) and I'm sure the BB reps taking the trade can see it also if they look for it. I doubt that most would even glance at that, but I saw a couple of users in an old Pixel thread mention they had their trade rejected at the store because of a mismatch in the carrier and I believe the suspicion was that model info was probably what they first noticed as a sign of a problem. Now I don't think that's the norm by any means and I highly doubt that many people will have any issues with trades as long as the basic info lines up. However, we all know there can be crazy rule-stickler employees out there who can try to cause problems at times and someone could potentially run into them. And again, I don't at all mean to imply that a difference in that number should be an actual reason to reject a trade … just that it could potentially happen if someone gets a jerk of a rep. Also, the BB database doesn't always appear to provide the correct MGxxxLL number for the choices selected, so it really shouldn't matter if they can't even get it right themselves.

It also makes no sense that there is no option to trade in an unlocked iPhone 12 pro. I chatted with a bb rep a few days ago about this and he said as long as the phone model, color and size match then it should be fine?

Regardless the trade in values have dropped $100 on both the 9 and 9 pro so it's dead.

I'll be mailing in my iPhone 12 pro and hoping for the best, I guess.

Yeah, lots of people have reported trading in models that don't perfectly align with their order details with no problems. Things like carrier or color really shouldn't matter at all and I highly doubt it would be an issue with the mail-in place where there are probably just a few people who know what they're doing. (Edit: sounds like the mail-in option can be a pain also) I suspect the problems would probably just be in rare instances where a BB rep doesn't really know much about it and is kind of a jerk anyway. If someone does run into issues with a trade at a store, it might be good to call or chat with corporate… they can sometimes help intervene, particularly for something like that where even BB chat has said it's OK.

I researched a good deal in previous years, and all these mail in phones go to the same company. Many people have had their promotional amount voided for not matching the model, or having cosmetics deemed inferior to whatever standards they're using. Oh, they'll give you credit, but it might be closer to $300. And yes, they'll mail it back if you request it, but then you're stuck with 2 phones and no discount.

You're using common sense. Common sense does not apply with these sorts of businesses. Too many horror stories, I wouldn't risk it, but that's me. in-store at Best Buy is much safer.

Ugh, that really sucks. I've followed a bunch of phone threads, but I've never done a mail-in trade myself and hadn't really paid much attention to that part of the discussions.

If you make sure to check that option, then yes they will send back if the amount changes and you don't agree. But you need to act fast otherwise you could miss the returns period on the pixel. I wouldnt even open the phone before having the trade approved, otherwise you're facing their open box charge.

You can meticulously photograph and also video your mail in item. That's something to fall back on
