90% of morons on this thread will ruin the deal by asking dumb questions to Best Buy and possibly altering them to check trade in phone in details. Just keep your mouth shut when you go there to pick up the phone

Still out of stock and my trade-in price has already dropped $100 in value... This sucks.

Yeah, but that's not really going to help if it's rejected due to some silly part number / carrier mismatch or a subjective judgement call that it doesn't meet their quality standard for the chosen value. If it's rejected and shipped back, that's kind of a bummer.

Ugh, that really sucks. I've followed a bunch of phone threads, but I've never done a mail-in trade myself and hadn't really paid much attention to that part of the discussions.
I mailed in every year since the 5 (maybe 6), and others really hammered it in that you don't mess around when it comes to the mail-in trades. It's 100% up to the discretion of a nameless person in a warehouse, and they don't care if you're happy. For Best Buy trades, at least you can try at another store or later when someone else is on duty. The turnaround time with the mail in adds a whole mess of problems as well, and you can't just send another phone in after a rejection. 1 and done. You lost, try again next time is the policy. Last year there was a huge wait time getting it scanned after arriving at the warehouse, I just barely got in during the promotion guarantee by a day, I said never again.

I did that as well, but exactly who are you going to send it to and argue with if it's denied? Everytime I did that process, there was no one to reach out to, aside from Google who contracted with the trade company.

799 for S23 is when buying Pixel 9, 1099 for S23 U is when buying pro XL.

Do you have a discussion thread about last year's trade in?

Does anyone know if bestbuy accept a trade in( different color) not showing in the trade in options? For example, samsung exclusive colors like s23 ultra red. Thanks in advance!!

yes they will
The Pixel 9 Pro is going to release in more than 15 days from now, if you trade it in at release time, that's going to be more than 15 days. Which might give the an out?

It might be important to try to do the in store trade (or mail in) before the release if possible?

My assumption is their policy is 15 days from when they give you the estimate, not 15 days from when you get the phone.

The whole point of these pre-orders is to get the sales lined up ahead of time and it would be nuts to set it all up and then just dump the promos like that. Yes, they generally don't want to give trade values which people may hold them to forever, so the 15 day policy is there … but in this case, it's being done as a pre-order specifically for a phone that's not available for a slightly longer timeframe. I'd bet the farm they're not just going to dump all those orders. They do special promos like this for newly released phones pretty regularly and I've never seen them do something crazy like that.

Also, their instructions about the trade states "If you choose store pickup, you'll bring your trade-in device to the store when your new device is ready for pickup. If you choose shipping, we'll email instructions for shipping your trade-in device to us after your new device is delivered."

So they clearly intend the trade to be complete when the phone is picked up or after it's shipped and I just don't see them reneging on mass orders after extending a special pre-order offer like this.

If anyone who placed a Pro order was really concerned about it, they could do a chat to ask if their order will still be honored with the quoted trade value even though it's after15 days, but I wouldn't even give it a second thought.

oh, I agree that I'd bet that it would be fine as well. just something to note and understand (note: I wrote most of my statements in the form of a Q for this purpose). I wonder if in general they do trade in / pre offers that 3 weeks in advance of the sale normally (maybe yes?) i.e. the pre-order preriod for the regular and xl are obviously much shorter.

Yeah, it's definitely good to take note of any possible complications. I don't usually do a lot of pre-orders so I haven't really watched how far out they usually happen. My guess is that Google probably hoped to launch these all at once, but some production issues cropped up and they needed to push back the Pro lineup. I'm sure Google is the one paying the super trade bonuses targeting older phones in order to kick-start the launch, so I doubt Best Buy is taking any losses on it and they probably welcome the extra sales.

I think P9 Pro was never available for pickup, this is because the release date of P9 Pro is so far out and not yet firm (Expected September first week). Without a firm release date, it's probably not feasible for Google/Best Buy to plan and offer store pickup.

I think in the next 2-3 weeks we can expect P9 Pro to become available for order with store pickup option. Only thing we are not sure is whether Best Buy will have same trade in values at that time.

I also think most likely Best buy won't allow changing existing orders from shipping to store pickup as it'll be too late to handle the inventory, logistics etc..
i see, i guess have to hope for the best.

How do you trade in at the store? My offer currently only tells me to wait for instructions to mail it in.
