I'd give the edge to the Asus Tuf, I feel like having an i9 in a laptop versus an i7 is diminishing returns with thermal considerations in mind, and you would probably enjoy the added performance from the 4070 versus the 4060 in the HP.

Interesting, would this output decently to a 1440p monitor? I have the Ally with a 6850m XG eGPU thinking about selling it to buy this.

I recently went through all this building for my sons. They both got desktop 4070s as a minimum to run 90fps+ at 1440p (for years to come).

I think this would be a lot of fun to play with but, the way I understand it, you will need DLSS to get excellent frame rates at 1440p for gaming.

As a productivity reference, I briefly test drove a much inferior 4050 HP Victus that easily pushed 4K 120 HZ for productivity. I tested one monitor but would have liked to have tested two.

Confirmed to be not touchscreen per HP official response to user question. The best buy specs are still inaccurate at time of posting.

Q: Is it really touchscreen? (1 answer)

A: Hello and thank you for your question. This HP Omen 16-wf0083dx laptop does not have a touchscreen.

15.6" is as low as youll get, so not much smaller. As the CPU is a 13900HX which is basically a very powerful desktop CPU that is power limited to work in laptops, because of this it needs good cooling and a bigger battery so you wont find it in a small thin and light laptop.

I won't be using the screen often (99.9% use case is drive external monitors) and I am still having a problem buying this because I agree with you.

I have done a lot of looking around, though, and if this screen is better than the $599 Walmart Victus I am returning, this Omen will be a keeper. This seems to be the best immediate deal out there if you are willing to sacrifice screen to maximize internals.

I don't see this dropping any more than maybe another $100 during Black Friday.

Omen is a much higher line than the Victus, generally speaking. You're sacrificing screen quality and form factor in order to get the i9 & 4060 for $1k.
