Adding to the frustration, every call to customer service connected me to representatives in India who, while polite, were of little help in resolving the myriad issues I encountered. The airline seems determined to nickel and dime passengers at every turn, finding creative ways to extract more money from you. For instance, they had the audacity to charge me an extra $300 for modifying a flight, even though I had attempted to cancel within the 24-hour window. I couldn't reach anyone on the phone, so I resorted to emailing them. Despite my timely communication, it wasn't until I took the drastic step of involving my credit card company for a chargeback that they finally returned my money.
My ordeal didn't end there. I once missed a connection because the airline simply couldn't locate a pilot for the flight—an oversight that would be laughable if it weren't so infuriating. To add insult to injury, I was directed to the wrong gate and, as a result of the overbooking chaos that ensued, was assigned a non-reclining seat at the very back of the plane. It felt like I was being punished for their own incompetence.
In sum, my experiences with Air Canada have left me with an abiding loathing for this airline. Every encounter has been marked by inefficiency, indifference, and a blatant disregard for customer care. I can say, without hesitation, that I detest this airline with every fiber of my being.
