This is a particularly nice deal if you have a "By the Gig" plan with no cost to add a line. Port a phone number and get a free Pixel 9 after bill credits (just need to pay taxes and $25 setup charge). Was planning to add my brother in law to our grandfathered 10 GB plan and wanted to get him a new phone. Asked the the friendly rep in store last week if there were any specials coming up and he said the Pixel 9 was going to be free at launch (no trade in required).

Good one if you want the base model.

I want the pro model and they only offer $500 off over 24 months.. that's a weak offer. I will wait to switch to another carrier.

Is xfinity $20 by the gig cost extra for another line? Or can two lines share that gig for $20. I have 2 lines that I can port over. So can I get two new pixels and pay $20(plus monthly fees)?

SD doesn't allow posting of specific portals, but in the past I've gotten cash back for new lines. Used to be around $50, but current offers are much lower, around $15, good luck! I would suggest one of the sites that compares highest cash back offers for xfinity mobile. IME the cash back posts a few months after you activate the new line.

Up to 10 lines can share the same "By the Gig" data plan. You only pay the cost for shared data + taxes on each line (roughly $3 per month). So theoretically if you already have a by the gig plan, it would cost you $3 taxes x 24 months for the phone, plus sales tax on the phone.

We have a grandfathered plan (1 GB for $20, 3 GB for $45, or 10 GB for $65). We are not heavy data users so rarely go over 3 GB. The monthly cost for 3 of us is roughly $45 (data) + $9 taxes. When we add my brother in law I'll bump the data up to 10 GB, so all in we will stil pay less than $20 per person per month all in, with a new phone to boot.

No, only if you bring your own phone, and only if you choose the unlimited plan. They used to offer the $100 (or $200) credit for bringing your own phone (basically porting a number) which was awesome for those with shared data plans as you just needed to pay taxes on the ported number for a few months to get the credit, wash, rinse, repeat, but they finally wised up and required the port to be to an unlimited plan.

Any benefits of keeping two phone lines? I need to cut those lines off from tmobile. Was thinking going with xfinity for two free phones. But the total cost of the plan for 2 years will be $1,000. Think i'm just goin to get rid of those lines.

What's so great about the pro model apart from free Gemini advanced?

I have the 7 Pro and would say the telephoto camera and larger screen is worth it. I never used to be a fan of larger phones and was coming from a Pixel 3, but have to say I use my phone more now than my tablet or computer thanks to the extra real estate. But if neither are important the standard model is just fine. The Gemini is absolutely not worth it IME, especially if you have to pay for a subscription, no thanks!

Don't know how you totaled up to be $1000. Assuming those two lines are not actively used or will suffice with 1GB shared since you make it seem like those two lines are disposable

Based on base P9 purchases:

Tax on $799 x 2, let's use 8% = $128
$20/month on shared the GB plan + taxes x 12 = $300 - $325
Activation fee x 2 = $30

I'll leave the rest of the math to you.

Do you know if they fixed the PWM flicker on the 9 Pro. I used the 7 briefly via Fi deal and it gave me a lasting headache and dizziness. I see the Pro specs mention 1-120 Hz display so I'm guessing this means some kind of fix but I'll have to check Reddit.

I think the base 9 should suffice as I will be using it as my backup device & don't plan to use the camera all that much.

I don't understand why the base model gets $800 off and the Pro only gets $500.
