I just finished repainting every interior wall of my house with Sherwin Williams Emerald. I also read all those Reddit threads recommending Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore. Purchased it all during 40 & 50% off sales. Never used it before, previously only ever painted with various home depot and lowes purchases. If you put a little work into prepping your walls with a quick sanding, two coats of Emerald is silky smooth and looks fantastic. Use a good quality roller and brush. I used Purdy Marathon rollers. Take your time. My results are impressive and I'm super picky. I think i read that Sherwin just increased their base prices but i was able to get most of my paint right around $50 with coupons. I wouldn't pay the $90+ regular price because it goes on sale so frequently. Just buy the untinted paint during a sale if you don't know the exact color you want and you can bring it back and they'll tint it for free.
SW Duration is ~ $55/gal with coupon or ~$45/gal with a business account.

Many years ago, I bought paint from a big box store to paint my interior. I bought Glidden and swore to never use it again.

When it came time to repaint the interior of my current house, I used SW Duration. So easy to apply and looks fantastic.

I'm a cheap ass from way back but paint is one thing I never cheap out on anymore.
Even with 40% off you still end up with at least $50 a gallon. It is just overpriced in the first place for people who decide to paint themselves and do not really care about the price since painter is very expensive.

Stay away from their stain it doesn't last at all. At least the stuff they used on our deck sure didn't.

I've used glidden premium in lieu of SW promar 400. Coverage and durability was actually probably better with Glidden, which only cost me around $30/gal vs the promar which was upwards of $60/gal. Didn't have any trouble matching SW paint colors either. SW emerald is pretty good, but again depends how much you want to pay.

Thats comparing what should be $30 a gallon, to $30 a gallon paint. That $60 price point is not what anyone is actually paying when it comes to promar. Thats not to say the current prices of anything else is good because my time working there I hated the $60 price point of Super paint now that's into the $90s+.

Side note for a lot of people, look at marketplace to see if you can find a light color/cheap price 2nd hand then take it in and change the color to something deeper if needed.

Also they have this around every 2 months or so. Earlier in the year I thought this was like a once a year thing and bought like 10 gallons. But then it was back just 8 or so weeks later! Not a big deal though as I'm repainting most of the interior of my house.

The general consensus (at least on reddit) is you get what you pay for with paint and don't cheap out. But even with the coupon SW is like 3 times as expensive as the stuff from the big box store.
I really want to try this stuff out but being an SDer just makes it hard to justify.

I've found that using paints such as Sherwin Williams is they are designed for professional painters. DIYers like myself are better off with big box paint. SW paint dries really, really fast so it's hard to maintain a wet edge when painting a wall.
