Many years ago, I bought paint from a big box store to paint my interior. I bought Glidden and swore to never use it again.
When it came time to repaint the interior of my current house, I used SW Duration. So easy to apply and looks fantastic.
I'm a cheap ass from way back but paint is one thing I never cheap out on anymore.

Went back to behr for new house and got tons of compliments on it.
Also one last thing to note, the previous owners of my house must have been drunk while painting because they slopped paint all over the window and door trim, and did a horrible job of edging the ceiling. I had to replace all the trim moulding. Nothing screams amateur painter worse than that. Take your time, use a good brush (i used purdy clearcut elite and a wooster shortcut) and get a nice edge along your ceiling and trim. No need for tape or special tools in most places. Makes your paint job look so much more professional.
YouTube and Reddit. One is paid shills, the others are raged filled political clowns' forums. Good luck getting useful information most of the time.
I'm not a professional painter but with the right prep and quality paint, my results look professional

I really want to try this stuff out but being an SDer just makes it hard to justify.
I buy SW on deals like these but only when I need quality. Like my living room ceiling, very visible and not an easy paint job. I didn't want to do 3 coats and needed it to look good. Likewise, if I painted the exterior of my house I wouldn't cheap out with Behr quality paint. But interior bedrooms and such, I usually buy "cheap" paint because it's good enough.
For those going back and forth about Emerald paint and if it's good. It is good paint. It's not the best. If you want better paint, and still want to stick with a national mainstream brand, Benjamin Moore has much better paints. Then you can go even higher with regional brands.
Before you open the velcro wallet too wide though, ask yourself what the goal is that you're trying to achieve with your re-paint. Are you looking for a paint that will last 20 years? Is this for a bathroom? Are you just looking for a re-paint knowing that in 5 or 6 years your kid will be out of the house and you will be repainting the room again to be repurposed as a guest room or home office? Is the repaint for a children's playroom? A den? Answers to these questions should drive what you should be spending.

If you're looking at wood stains, Sherwin is actually not good at all.
