It's made by AUX USA so you can check their reviews. It's hit/miss and most issues stem from poor install and lack of vacuuming (my opinion) from reading peoples install methods. The Costway units for a little more than this cost are also AUX. Other brands private label AUX also.

Midea is one of the other MFGs that make some of the more known brands like Pioneer.

By Not removing the Moisture, it will turn into acid and eat the winding, only a matter of time before she's cooked!...I would remove then pull a vacuum then weigh Charge!

So what's the difference between this and the DIY kits? Having never done this before and having no idea what to do, I need some help but the 12 to 13,000 BTUs is exactly what I need for our living room. 18 would be better but either way, feel like if we buy one of these kits we're going to be SOL because there's some secret part or setup that we can't do without being professionals. The wiring we have down cuz we have an electrician but setting this thing up, no idea.

The main thing is just vacuuming and pressure test. Not hard with a few inexpensive tools, and many don't even pressure test.

Not good. It'll work but loose efficiency and can cause compressor failure over time

From their website "R32 refrigerant (replaceable with R410A refrigerant)". R32 is not (at least widely) available in the US yet. You also can't change R32 to R410A or vice versa. They operate at different pressures, among other differences. Don't know that I would trust this one for support after the sale.

Ehhh the system comes precharged so flushing the lines with refrigerant when connecting them should be all that you need to do.

Edit:

Seems my comment is getting a lot of hate. I'm all hears for a reply explaining why it's a problem... The indoor unit and outdoor units are precharged, no? I'd assume they're filled with the correct amount of refrigerant for the system with the included line set. Purging the line set with refrigerant displaces the air (and associated humidity) so that should be all you need. In fact, that's how you fill the system after vacuuming anyway - you purge the low pressure hose line before tightening and opening the valve.

Of course, you're relying on the manufacturer doing their part correctly, which may be questionable but still the process *should* be fine.

How much do you typically pay for installing this?

Anyone know what the ambient rating is on this? I live in MN and would like it for keeping my garage warm (or just not freezing. fully insulated 3 car garage) and some heat pumpcan function at extremely low temps. I believe they're called low ambient.

edit: nm, found this "The mini split system is designed to perform in various environments at temperatures between 5°F and 118°F, providing optimal performance in every season."

I saw that too. What a pain as you noted. It's great that they're using the most modern. But yes it's not interchangeable so you'd have to vacuum out the whole system and change it out if needed.
