sounds kinda suspicious, So if I buy something with the $9 credit and it doesn't work when I do the return I just loose the $9 ? Or do you mean if I return the 5600 they refund me and take the $9 back?

I mean they just won't refund you for the portion you spent with courtesy credit.

So if you bought the 5600x for $109 and used $9 credit, when you return it, your refund will only be $100.
