I had this and they are excellent especially with a good subwoofer (compulsory best-value recommendation for RSL Speedwoofers, especially 10E $300 [rslspeakers.com] shipped). The speakers automatically add a high-pass (e.g. low-block) filter when a subwoofer is connected which improves the mids

The ONE flaw that made me return them is a slight hiss at all times while powered on, which I could hear because I sit 2.5 feet away all day (desktop)
These have been $399 many times on Amazon after clipping 20% off coupon codes. (Applied to a $499 price)
Likely why it doesnt show on the tracking sites.
Still a good deal. I do expect this price to be fairly common going into the holidays if you need to wait.

Searched my email and the cheapest I found was $450 at Costco in 2022. Seems like a good deal.

They were $299 on Prime Day this year, though those may have been refurbs. This $400 deal hits all the time

Oh, that sucks that you returned them instead of using them for something else. I don't think they're meant for near field, but probably would be great for the TV or music listening.

Well now they are on sale for less (Costco $500, used for 6 months)! So returning was the right choice Smilie But yes they aren't meant for near-field, definitely made for TV / Media with the HDMI ARC. The horizontal directivity is also surprisingly wide but too harsh highs "straight on" so actually perfect without toe-in at "TV watching distances"

I have the nines and it turns off frequently when connected via HDMI. I tried firmware update and turning off auto off power saving feature in the app, changing HDMI cable and it didn't help.

Looking for some powered speakers for a record player setup. Looking for simple and mid-quality so I've been looking at this or the Kanto YU6. Thoughts anyone?

Audiophiles, I've been shopping for bookshelf speakers for my PC. I just need basic, good sounding ones for Spotify and general web browsing. Do these fit the bill, and if not, what do you recommend?

So it seems these would not be ideal as desktop computer speakers?

I've had edifier s1000 for about 4 years now and they've been wonderful. I use them as a desktop speaker so they're big and way overkill but they have great detail and seem to be priced under these. How would these compare?

Why so many Klipsch deals on SD? Are they really good, or what?

On audio forums, I rarely have seen their name...

I have this combo and am not super pleased with it. Not an audio expert but I've had a hell of a time getting the Fives and the RSL to 'balance' to each other correctly. For example, the RSL will be quiet, not enough bass, then all of a sudden it will boom so loud that I need to turn it down. Maybe a smaller sub would be easier to tune with the Fives.

Do you have any settings recommendations? Thinking of selling the whole lot and washing my hands of the disappointment.
