I'm glad to hear all the good feedback on these, both on Amazon and here. I wasn't sure I'd like these due to the unusual shape, but if they work well for so many people, I can probably get used to them. I've been looking for a dumbbell set that can get up to 50lb each for $200 or less, so I'm in for this.

Are you a robot?
I need you to check on a few images of bicycles to prove it.

I bought these a couple weeks ago and have been happy with them. The only negative versus a whole dumbbell set is you can't (shouldn't) drop them. The time required to adjust weight is minimal and a total non issue for my workout.

I only bought up to the 70lb extension last time. It probably makes sense to buy up to the 90 if you're a relatively large man.

got them last time. A huge space saver. I still prefer the regular version but these will do the job just fine for now.

The shape is pretty good for most exercises. There can be a lack of mobility to some extent versus traditional dumbbells, but I don't think most would be impacted and the space savings make up for it. The worst thing is the cost of the expansion systems at MSRP, so deals like these are nice.

These specific Powerblocks are highly rated by a bunch of home gym youtubers, however much faith you put in them. I have zero experience with them personally, but at 200 for a set of 2, I would wager it's worth the buy, as that's about half the price of what you'd pay for any other decent set of adjustable dumbbells and even a quarter of the price of the better ones.

Yeah I got these for my kids to use to start lifting along with the stuff I already have for myself.

I would've preferred the Elite USAs because it sounds like it's supposed to be nicer but for the price/purpose this set seems pretty nice and will do the job. Based on other descriptions and from what I've seen, the hand opening is probably a bit bigger than the Elite USAs, which some people complain about the smaller openings on the other models.

And changing the main weights seems pretty easy, it took me a second to realize you need to align the pin in a certain way. The increment weights do rattle a little bit but seem pretty secure in there. And the main weight increments go in 10s. But you can adjust the incremental weights too.

My main issue is that you're not supposed to drop the weights. And in the instructions it says you're not supposed to have them strike each other which I was always wondering about. All of the videos I looked up online never had anyone touching the dumbbells together. For me that was part of the fun in getting that extra squeeze when doing presses. So with that and not being able to drop down the weights (which I take as including setting it down on the ground, I don't mean throwing them down or dropping them from waist or higher level), I don't think one would be really able to push themselves because they need the energy left to come back up with the weight. But if my kids ever get to that point they can go to the gym or community center to use the more gym quality dumbbells. That and maybe you can't do some exercises where you need to grip the dumbbells from the end like tricep extensions or goblet squats but I never tried it yet.

Other than that I had some issues with the stand. Where at first they shipped the wrong stand. Said I could keep it and then they'd send me another one. Then said I had to send back the original one (good thing I didn't get rid of it or do anything with it by then). Then with the replacement stand, which they overnighted, a weld broke off while assembling it but I don't think it was a critical part, so just took a partial refund for it.

All in all, I was previously skeptical about Woot. I read posts about how people would only receive one dumbbell or the items received were damaged. But I'd have to say their customer service, and possibly Power Block's because from what I gathered the items are actually shipped from PowerBlock and they had to check with them about the replacement, was pretty decent and I'd order from Woot again.

Same thing with PowerBlocks. Back when I was looking into adjustable dumbbells for myself, I liked what I read about the Iron Masters more because they had a more traditional shape. Ended up never getting a set. But as mentioned I think the PowerBlocks will do the job and seem nice too.

Now I just need to pick up a curl bar for my kids and I think they'll have everything they need to start out with. And will likely get either the Rep Fitness or Rogue curl bar. (and honestly they probably don't really need a curl bar but I figured it'd be a nice to have)

Also in regards to dropping it, Coop from Garage Gym Reviews, showed a video (12:20 mark of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aczVjwyve2s ) of where his table or rack of adjustable dumbbells fell and showed how each of them handled it. The PowerBlocks seemed to hold up well. But I think the model he has is different and personally it's not something that I'd want to risk testing with my own equipment that I plan to keep for a while.

Got them from the last sell. They work well! Just had a difficult time squatting with them. Some say to hold then vertical, but lack of a grip makes the heavier weights uncomfortable

i highly recommend getting the stand as well. it makes usability just that much better, rather than having to use them off the floor or another object.
