4 pack, why would you need (4)? Are they a one and done use? Just curious.. of course (4) for four different people but wasn't sure if -they only need to be used once or something.

These are great. I use them backpacking without issue. I think the Life Straw Squeeze has a dangerous design flaw with how the filter attaches. It can fall off inside the bag without the user noticing and then you're screwed. Pun intended as it should be a screw threaded design.
0.1 microns seems to be the standard for heavy metals, plastic, bacteria, and many chemicals.
0.1 micron seems like the best you can get before going to RO which requires more pressure and can be inconvenient to carry.
The goal of these filters is to allow you to hydrate and not get a gastrointestinal sickness while away from medical services.
Unknown stuff is going to get through, but probably not the ones that make you sick.
Hence the "99.999999%" they always advertise.
Yes, it is a number game. One bacteria or one virus would give very low, almost impossible odds of you getting sick. But the larger the group the worse your odds.

As far as function they are likely the same since they both advertise 0.1 micron.
Lifestraw seems like the original, and better built.

This newer version was a 5 pack for $28 last May. Newer version has additional compatibility for water bottle thread coupling from what I can tell.
The slick deals all seem to copy and paste jobs from prepping deals dot net. Or vice versus.
