For anyone who is wondering. 2500 points is worth around 0.5 per point. So figure $12.50 per stay. This is "average" not saying you won't get less or more value from it, but I guess a small freebie if you're booking anyway
I cannot thank the SD community enough for posting these. I would never know about them otherwise.
I used to work in loyalty programs and I think that about ten years ago or so, the best return on spend was actually Hyatt (in terms of how much in redemption rewards you could get based on your spend). The worst was Starwood, premerger...Marriott and Hilton were kind of in the ballpark.

Many, many devaluations later, it's REALLY hard to get smokin deals anymore. It makes sense if Hyatt offers the best return on spend because their footprint is so small compared to Hilton, and especially Marriott.

Either way, never sit on hotel loyalty points, they just naturally devalue over time

Way overpriced at Hilton properties compared to other hotel chains. Yes, there's some sort of quality difference, but not enough for me to pay $$ extra.

Yep! Hilton is noticeably overpriced for what you get compared to others.

so, if you don't like hilton, maybe stay away from Hilton threads? Personally love the quality and value I get from Hilton. No resort fees on stays with certs or points and overall good customer service.

Yep, that's a fair valuation. If you are just staying one night at a Hampton inn it's pretty sweet but if you stay at Waldorf Astoria for a week it's peanuts.

I have a sense these big companies went from relying on decent Rewards points to just using really refined arbitrage software. So many of the "Rewards" programs seem like that in name only, no palpable incentive.

I often feel like it's not worth the trouble to log into Hilton's site, takes a ridiculous number of points to book anything now, and they expire quickly.

Starbucks hollowed out a good rewards program that used to even convince ME to go there once in a while, I always make coffee at home and pickup "baked goods" at Costco in bulk if I want 'em. They are trying to backtrack by constantly running promotions that make their concoctions less overpriced, but once you've turned away customers in bulk it's hard to win them back. McDonalds FA and is finding out on that one.

If you are referring to the double points, that promo ends the day before this one starts

That hasn't really been my experience but maybe it depends on the market you are in.

Useless, considering I can't even log into my account (even after trying to reset my password).

So it will count if we booked before we registered, but stay during the promotion period?
