Please note that as of August 19th, PLUS members only get free shipping on orders over $50.00! $8.00 shipping fee for any order under $50.00. There are other "perks" still available such as 2% Sam's Cashback, and supposed prescription and eyeglass discounts.

For me the $50.00 minimum order size is a deal breaker.

Also be careful now..I ordered a item and paid shipping. It was defective and I returned it in store like always. New policy..system does not refund shipping charges.

To add to that the 2% cash back is only valid in store. It cannot be on sams.com. Curbside orders and scan and go are valid though.

FYI, you can use the offer with the same email if you have an expired account. After payment info, it will ask "You look familiar, do you have an account with us?" Click No, create new with same account info
I used different email, different cc, dropped the Dr on my address, and changed my name from Michael to Mike. It still recognized me. I had to change my phone number to my wife's, then it went thru.

That is quite surprising. Perhaps they've upgraded their checks. I've been changing email address for years and signing up as a new member each year. I've started using [email protected] trick to use a new email each year. I used to swap between my wife and me, but last couple of years didn't even have to do that. One thing I realized was that credit card on file mattered. One year I couldn't sign up with a new account, but after much trial, I realized I used up all my credit cards over the last few years. So I just generated a new credit card number via Citi, and then it went through. Signed up again this year, and again generated a new number and it went through.

Still totally worth $20 for us. Never needed 'plus.' Wife and I stop by for cheap gas and some essential items which we prefer over Costco's. Great to have access to both clubs without overspending on membership fees. There's a lot to like about Sam's membership over Costco. Sam's Scan&Go feature through their app is phenomenal. Less crowded. Better clearance finds IMO. And lastly, they aren't being Nazis about verifying membership at the store—they don't check your id when you walk in. Wife, or any other family member who has the app can use the main cardholders login and shop since they essentially assume you to be under same household as it's billed and paid to the credit card on file. You don't even need the physical card for gas unlike Costco.
I agree with what you said. I haven't needed to get a physical card at Sam's for years now. Have been getting a 'new' membership for over a decade now; sometimes I swap between my wife and me. We just update the logins on our apps and are good to go. It is really convenient not having to get a physical card. I am surprised not as many people use Sam's. Their Scan-and-Go is truly phenomenal. Even if you don't want to use your phone, their self-check out is so convenient with the wireless scanners. There is always a counter free.

A couple of notes about getting a 'new' membership at Costco vs. Sam's —
I moved to a new city this year which has Costco. Had a membership in the past expired over 18 months ago. One thing I noticed upon getting the new membership and the $40 new member discount, is that Costco is quite particular with checking whether you are a new member or not. Initially I hadn't gotten my $40 discount gift card, and had to call customer service. Apparently there is a team that verifies your new membership claim and then approves the $40. Sam's really just gives away 'new' membership to anyone that wants it. It used to be that you could get a free (or even money maker sometimes) membership for years. But lately, the best it has been $20. Still better than Costco which gives you $20 first year, but then you have to pay $60 for continued membership. The usual ways of tricking Sam's that you are new member don't work with Costco.

Also, first time I had Costco membership I hadn't used them in-store much (got my first membership just to buy a TV and some furniture online; didn't have a local Costco). This time, when I started using them in-store I am amazed at how crowded it is. Getting out is a major chore. You have to wait an eternity. Just finding parking is a major chore. At one point I figured I'll stop by a Costco near my work on my way back home on a weekday. Needed to pick up just a couple of items. I entered the store, saw the crowds and just walked back out without getting anything. I was so used to picking up just a couple of items at Sam's and walking out with Scan-and-Go.

Anyway, a couple of weeks back Sam's had some JBL speakers on a good sale and I got a $20 'new' membership again just to get those. So have both Costco and Sam's this year. Will keep an eye out which one we end up using more this year.

I already have a regular membership ship, how much does it cost to upgrade to a plus membership? Thanks
I believe $60 to upgrade at most but the closer it is to your renewal date, the cheaper the upgrade cost. Prorated.

Is there a way to check if they'll offer delivery for a certain address? My nearest Sam's Club is 1 hour away
We've had the plus membership for the last three years since we moved to the Outer Cape (Cape Cod), and the nearest Sam's Club is over three hours away. It's been worth it for us since we'll put together a large order and have it shipped for free rather than travel 45 minutes to the BJ's in Hyannis (or 1-1/2 hours in the summer).

The flip side to this is that now orders over $50 now include free delivery which was $8 before if you live within an area where they deliver. We do so for us this is a great change - we live about 25 minutes away so now being able to order pretty much anything from there and have it delivered for free is great. Also since they use their employees no need to tip now since they changed the rules. Win for us!

Can't get it to work. I was an additional card holder under my wifes account, and now when I try to create an account in my name it is recognizing me, even using a different email, credit card, phone number...it must be our address that it is recognizing.

They still charge for delivery on groceries.

For my area it seems Sam's has better prices than Costco. I also like their Scan & Go. Major time saver. Not sure why Costco doesn't have something similar.

I think you won't have to do that if you make sure to remove your credit card from your account before your account expires. That's what I've always done. Never had any issues.

Currently it forces you to keep one card on file as preferred. I couldn't remove all cards even when it was active.

for those situations, i try to remove my most active used cards and replace it with a "credit card" that cannot be used in the future.
