Every paddle has durability concerns. Seriously I have looked at so many paddles. If it's bunk, it tends to break in the first few uses so you should be fine with Amazon's return window.

I bought this last time it was here for around the same cost and I gotta say, it's a great paddle, especially for 30 bucks. The only thing I'll say is it might be a bit much for a beginner to control; it can generate a lot of spin.
