The Origin of Species is the magnum opus of natural scientist Charles Darwin. In the book Darwin presents the theory that populations evolve over the course of generations through the process of natural selection. The book goes on to present a body of evidence for the hypothesis that the diversity of life in this way arose by common descent through a branching pattern of evolution.

Darwin had gathered much of his evidence for the book on the Beagle expedition in the 1830s to among other places the Galápagos Islands.

This ebook may be found on other sites such as internet archive or project Gutenberg, but this is a quick an easy way to get your free digital copy added to your library via Amazon Kindle under 3 clicks. Click this post, then click "get deal" ,then "download". Enjoy!

I don't think seeing us glued to screens 150 years later was part of the plan, but here we are. Bring on the myopia and beetus!

If you happen to be lucky enough to own the 1859 first edition, you may know that on page 20 the word species is misspelled "speceies".

The most important science (arguably any) book ever written, but if you're after something a little more accessible and keen to know about evolution in depth, or can't get your head totally around it, The Blind Watchmaker by Richard Dawkins is really good.

Where is change of kinds? Micro evolution only. No macro.

Although I'm a creationist, I'm going to read this book so I can have a more thoughtful debate when I discuss this with my evolution friends. Just after I get done reading the Bible from cover to cover.

Evolution is a gradual change by definition. "Macro evolution" would be or imply creationism, so congrats on that, ya burned yoself

If we follow the (language) science, "Macro" in the adjective sense means overall, or large-scale…doesn't imply where the change came from or what caused it.

Likewise, it would serve everyone well to understand the progression of biology and related sciences across history, as some of this book's implications were greatly impacted by the discovery of DNA as a mechanism to regulate genetic traits.

You mean you're going to use it on The Blind Watchmaker? That's a very good use of an audible credit indeed. Very keen to know what you think about it. The section on eyes is ... ummm ... eye opening for sure.
