Just a SWAG here; Have your local Fire Dept. (FD) test them for off gassing. There might be a toxic hazard here. As a previous IH Tech I'm always interested in exposures. I have the expertise to test and interpret results, but I don't have the equip. to test them. The local FD should. If you're in the COS area let me know I can assist.

The dumbbells themselves I don't mind at all. However that frame is absolute garbage. All the metal used on it is so thin I'm surprised mine hasn't fallen apart yet.

These stink so bad you can't use them indoors. I let mine air out for 3 weeks in the sun, and they still stink. Debating returning unless someone has tips to get the stench out

Spray dawn dishwashing shop on them and let them soak outside for a few hours then rinse.

I have the same issue. Picked up the set 5 to 25 lbs, and I can't get the stink out. Been outside for a few weeks. Washed with dish soap, baking soda, simple green, nothing works.

I've been to a workout studio that used a similar dumbbell holder like this.

The main problem is that the dumbbell handle is abrasive - and overtime, it'll wear down the rubber and eventually the metal grooves that holds the dumbbell. When this happens, it'll make the edge EXTRMELY sharp and dangerous.

I suppose that if you only handle it in the center, it's not a big deal, but placing it on what you can consider as two large curved blades is a pretty poor design.

Did you return? Thinking of doing the same. Pointless to have these if they can't be used indoors.

Very bad quality and stinky. I got mine with some deformation on 20lbs dumbbell. Some liquid like motor oil is leaking from deformation hole

These need to be able to off gas for quite some time. They are made from recycled tire rubber so even a month or two sitting outdoors in full sun won't get them completely stench free. Great set for the price, box showed up obliterated from FedEx.
