UPDATE (8/28) - Last day for this deal. The phones listed below still works for trading.
UPDATE (8/25) - No new updates for trade ins. For those picking up their online orders, don't ask what your values are. Just take it and check your online invoice right after taking the phone. If it shows things are zero'd out, you're good and your refund will show up in a few days tops.
UPDATE (8/23) - Thanks to user SmartMice845 for pics of the latest trade in values (basically everything is devalued except the Samsung 23/24 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro/Max.
https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=172512819&postcount=2545
UPDATE (8/22) - From more reporting, it would seem the entire iPhone 13 lineup is devalued (base, pro, pro max). Thus for anyone who still wants in on this deal, only the 14 series and Samsung equivalents are good. Obviously those who already purchased have locked in the rates. Those who ordered online from the start of the promotion for instore pickup seem to be getting the full value without any additional tax.
UPDATE (8/21) - More than one person are reporting devaluation of the iPhone 13 > PXL 9 trade in so careful tonight if you're still planning on doing that. The iPhone 13 Pro Max > PXL 9 Pro XL is still alive.
Devices that were pre-ordered ship to home earlier are being shipped.
I actually have a Pixel 9 delivered just now [imgur.com] from an instore pre-order on 8/16!
UPDATE (8/20) - It appears Best Buy have no intentions of fulfilling the "SteveIrwin" iPhone 12 $654 coupon for those who had it zero'd out on the eve of the 18th. Which is crazy they named it that since he's a famous Zoologist who died, so naming it that to say the coupon is dead is crazy. Anyways, if you still have it, I would try to get your trade in back. My store's manager kept my iPhone 12 in a separate location because he saw issues with the coupon. Returned it to me and cancelled the trade in today.
UPDATE (8/19) - looks like quite a few people are reporting their online orders getting cancelled, especially those with multiple orders or trading in an iPhone 12. No one who reported successfully trading in instore has reported cancellations yet. If you have an online order that isn't with an iPhone 12 trade in, perhaps trying going instore to "lock in" your trade and cancel the online one.
UPDATE (8/18) - they have fully devalued the iPhone 12 series. Those who attempted to trade in 8/18 at night were met with a coupon that doesn't work after they traded in their iPhone 12. Will see how Best Buy resolve a traded in phone but the coupon doesn't work.
Other models listed below should still have elevated values instore. The updated terms online some people have posted is not the same terms that are present for instore documentation. Best Buy reps have an updated PDF every day and as of last night, still include everything EXCEPT the iPhone 12.
This is a previously posted deal, but trade in values online have been reduced. Higher trade in values still work in-store. Worked for me both yesterday and today.
Steps:
- Have one of the following trade ins. Carrier locked phones are fine as long as they aren't blacklisted. YMMV on exact carrier models and colors matching but I and many others have had no issues trading in a locked Straight Talk iPhone 12 and told them Verizon or Metro and T-Mobile (remove your SIM card when trading in):
Pixel 9:
Galaxy S23 Ultra ($799)
Galaxy S24 Ultra ($799)
Galaxy S24+ ($799)
Pixel 9 Pro:
Galaxy S24 Ultra ($999)
iPhone 14 Pro ($999)
iPhone 14 Pro Max ($999)
Pixel 9 Pro XL:
Galaxy S23 Ultra ($1,099)
Galaxy S24 Ultra ($1,099)
iPhone 14 Pro ($1,099)
iPhone 14 Pro Max ($1,099)
- Take your trade in to the store and ask them you want to pre-order the Pixel with said phone (don't ask for trade in value yet)
- They will ask for your phone's model and capacity and will check the IMEI that's physically on the phone (on the back of Samsung's and on the SIM tray of iPhones with SIM card slots)
- Let them proceed and they'll eventually get to this screen here:
https://imgur.com/a/3tKD8kv
- Do not let them skip that screen. They will need to input a coupon code in order for this to work (they have a booklet for the code) -> Others have mentioned the code is just "GOOGLE"
- They'll print out the info, gift card for trade in value and coupon is deducted directly
- After you confirm the promo trade in value, proceed to sign away and give them your phone
- For some states like mine (WA), taxes is paid only on the after coupon price

Additional info:
Phones listed should only have the value for their respective tiers. An iPhone 13 for instance will not have $799 value when trying to get a Pixel 9 Pro or Pro XL.
The $100/$200 gift cards come AFTER you make the purchase so you cannot use it to pay off the taxes. Gift cards are stackable though so if you do more than one trade in, you can use the $100/$200 gift card to pay for taxes on the second or third trade in.
You can use the previous threads to find data points from what others have mentioned are trade in values for different phones. I only listed the ones that corresponds with the models to make them free. Online trade in values are decreased so it's not a good data point for how much your phone would actually cost.

Is there a way to apply the (In-store only) bonus credit to an online order? Similarly, is there a way to transfer an online order to in-store to apply the credit? I unfortunately don't have time to hang out in a Best Buy to refresh a webpage for 3 hours.😅
You are taking pixels at full retail value of $1099. Google themselves know that their phones are not the full retail so they are almost always discounted. anyways it's your money so Good luck
Hey all good man, thanks
I'm definitely not taking the Pixels at full value. I'll be happy if I sell the 128GB 9 Pro XL for $850-$900, for example. I'm definitely not expecting to sell one for $1,099 :-). You make a good point. I certainly agree.
The refund for the Pixel 9 will be shorted by $100 to account for the gift card, unless you return the gift card.
And if you somehow manage to trade your phone in via the kit, you'll forfeit the trade-in bonus and just receive a low value GC for your iPhone trade (probably $145 for an iPhone 12).
So in the end, you just sold your $215 iPhone 12 for $145 ($70 loss) and bought a $100 BB gift card.

=> Some people said you can (not confirmed) BUT you would still need to refresh BB page to see if it's available anyway

As far as this deal, I'm fine with it. I got a trade-in value of $470 for the 12 Pro Max. I could have fetched ~$350-$400 on Swappa, best case. For $490, effectively, I got a $1,100 phone that I can either use or sell. I'm OK with it. The real deal is the other pre-order I made, for a 256GB Pro 9 XL. 13 Pro Max trade-in value $1,099. Averaged out, I can just about double my money if I sell both Pixels.
If so, that's not paying $490 effectively for the Pixel even if you treat the $200gc as cash. You paid $690 + say $400 cash value for your 12 Pro Max= $1090, and then you got a $200 BB GC.
If you treat the GC as cash, you paid $890 for the Pixel.

I am looking forward to picking mine up on 8/22. Preordered a Hazel 256GB. Hopefully it doesn't get cancelled.
Trading in an S23 Ultra that I bought for $360 from OfferUp. Net after taxes should be around $500 total out of pocket for the XL 256gb and a $200gc. Missed out on the 8% cb, but got 2.5%. if that comes through, total will be under $500.
All this is assuming they don't cancel the order. Haha. If they do, I will just trade in the $360 S23 Ultra for a $440 BestBuy GC or sell it locally.

I appreciate your comment, but I'm not sure I follow. Let's ignore taxes, and round up to $1,100 for the P9 Pro XL.
$1,100 - $470 12 Pro Max = $630
I'm OK treating the BB GC as cash (why wouldn't I?).
$630 - $200 BB GC + $430.
To account for taxes: I see $689 on my Amex... -$200 BB GC = $490, for a 128GB P9 Pro XL.
I don't think I'm missing anything here, but please (anyone) correct me if I am.

But since you asked, I was just adding the market value of your Pro 12 Max to what you paid. Basically what you could sell your Pro 12 Max + $690 you paid at Best buy.
Haha all good man, I appreciate it. I don't feel like you're breaking my balls. We all can learn from these discussions we have, and I appreciate your insights. I guess the important thing is that we do our best to stay civilized with each other (it's not always easy LOL!).
No worries, I'm sure I'll be finding out soon enough how the phone selling goes :-). I've been buying and selling phones on and off since the SonyEricsson T610, so I'm not new to it. You make a great point about the Pixels, sure. Their value does take a f*cking beating.
There's some element of fun/enjoyment in it for me as well. I'm not saying I have money to throw away, but I'm not desperate to maximize the $$ I get out of it. It won't be a huge deal, just a lesson learned. I'll add that I almost bought a Pixel 8 Pro last year. I really wanted to use it along side my 14 Pro Max and then 15 Pro Max. Just to see the differences. Maybe on a vacation I would bring both phones, and use them both depending on the situation (e.g. Pixels do amazingly in low light and they offer SO much more control vs. iPhones (stock camera apps). Whereas iPhones have always beaten Pixels in the video department, and depending on who you ask they've drawn even in full light scenarios.

So you paid $490 + the value of your IP12 Pro Max for the Pixel 9 Pro XL. You still came out slightly ahead of paying MSRP since there's a small promotional credit for the IP 12 Pro Max ($200 I believe).
