Deal Details
UPDATE (8/28) - Last day for this deal. The phones listed below still works for trading.

UPDATE (8/25) - No new updates for trade ins. For those picking up their online orders, don't ask what your values are. Just take it and check your online invoice right after taking the phone. If it shows things are zero'd out, you're good and your refund will show up in a few days tops.

UPDATE (8/23) - Thanks to user SmartMice845 for pics of the latest trade in values (basically everything is devalued except the Samsung 23/24 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro/Max. https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=172512819&postcount=2545

UPDATE (8/22) - From more reporting, it would seem the entire iPhone 13 lineup is devalued (base, pro, pro max). Thus for anyone who still wants in on this deal, only the 14 series and Samsung equivalents are good. Obviously those who already purchased have locked in the rates. Those who ordered online from the start of the promotion for instore pickup seem to be getting the full value without any additional tax.

UPDATE (8/21) - More than one person are reporting devaluation of the iPhone 13 > PXL 9 trade in so careful tonight if you're still planning on doing that. The iPhone 13 Pro Max > PXL 9 Pro XL is still alive.
Devices that were pre-ordered ship to home earlier are being shipped. I actually have a Pixel 9 delivered just now [imgur.com] from an instore pre-order on 8/16!

UPDATE (8/20) - It appears Best Buy have no intentions of fulfilling the "SteveIrwin" iPhone 12 $654 coupon for those who had it zero'd out on the eve of the 18th. Which is crazy they named it that since he's a famous Zoologist who died, so naming it that to say the coupon is dead is crazy. Anyways, if you still have it, I would try to get your trade in back. My store's manager kept my iPhone 12 in a separate location because he saw issues with the coupon. Returned it to me and cancelled the trade in today.

UPDATE (8/19) - looks like quite a few people are reporting their online orders getting cancelled, especially those with multiple orders or trading in an iPhone 12. No one who reported successfully trading in instore has reported cancellations yet. If you have an online order that isn't with an iPhone 12 trade in, perhaps trying going instore to "lock in" your trade and cancel the online one.

UPDATE (8/18) - they have fully devalued the iPhone 12 series. Those who attempted to trade in 8/18 at night were met with a coupon that doesn't work after they traded in their iPhone 12. Will see how Best Buy resolve a traded in phone but the coupon doesn't work. Other models listed below should still have elevated values instore. The updated terms online some people have posted is not the same terms that are present for instore documentation. Best Buy reps have an updated PDF every day and as of last night, still include everything EXCEPT the iPhone 12.

This is a previously posted deal, but trade in values online have been reduced. Higher trade in values still work in-store. Worked for me both yesterday and today.

Steps:

- Have one of the following trade ins. Carrier locked phones are fine as long as they aren't blacklisted. YMMV on exact carrier models and colors matching but I and many others have had no issues trading in a locked Straight Talk iPhone 12 and told them Verizon or Metro and T-Mobile (remove your SIM card when trading in):
Pixel 9:
Galaxy S23 Ultra ($799)
Galaxy S24 Ultra ($799)
Galaxy S24+ ($799)

Pixel 9 Pro:
Galaxy S24 Ultra ($999)
iPhone 14 Pro ($999)
iPhone 14 Pro Max ($999)

Pixel 9 Pro XL:
Galaxy S23 Ultra ($1,099)
Galaxy S24 Ultra ($1,099)
iPhone 14 Pro ($1,099)
iPhone 14 Pro Max ($1,099)
- Take your trade in to the store and ask them you want to pre-order the Pixel with said phone (don't ask for trade in value yet)
- They will ask for your phone's model and capacity and will check the IMEI that's physically on the phone (on the back of Samsung's and on the SIM tray of iPhones with SIM card slots)
- Let them proceed and they'll eventually get to this screen here: https://imgur.com/a/3tKD8kv
- Do not let them skip that screen. They will need to input a coupon code in order for this to work (they have a booklet for the code) -> Others have mentioned the code is just "GOOGLE"
- They'll print out the info, gift card for trade in value and coupon is deducted directly
- After you confirm the promo trade in value, proceed to sign away and give them your phone
- For some states like mine (WA), taxes is paid only on the after coupon price
https://imgur.com/a/naartVF

Additional info:
Phones listed should only have the value for their respective tiers. An iPhone 13 for instance will not have $799 value when trying to get a Pixel 9 Pro or Pro XL.
The $100/$200 gift cards come AFTER you make the purchase so you cannot use it to pay off the taxes. Gift cards are stackable though so if you do more than one trade in, you can use the $100/$200 gift card to pay for taxes on the second or third trade in.
You can use the previous threads to find data points from what others have mentioned are trade in values for different phones. I only listed the ones that corresponds with the models to make them free. Online trade in values are decreased so it's not a good data point for how much your phone would actually cost.

I'm a little confused. Trying to read the comments to understand the issue. I placed my order timely to trade in the iphone12 for pixel 9 and my order details shows full 799 credit. I have yet to pick up the pixel at the store. Is Best Buy not going to give me the full 799 at pickup? How will I know before I trade it in?

If u had preordered and chose right model and color and all for trade in, you should not have any issues with pick up. Seems like they fixed bunch of issues yesterday.

Aren't you the one that posted you regretted doing the deal and "wasted your i12's trading in for the Pixels"?
Yeah, it was wasted until I flip the pixel 9's for $550 each. Now its all good in the hood.

As far as the Pixel 9 phone itself, I'd be remiss if I said it is amazing. Google has made improvements in the fingerprint, screen and in the modem marginally. Unfortunately the other aspects of Tensor including choppy app performance and heating under load remain.

There is honestly not a huge difference from Pixel 8. The ultrasonic Fingerprint reader in Pixel 9 is better than the Pixel 8/7 etc. However Android 15 QPR1 had already fixed most of the fingerprint issues in Pixel 7/8, so the difference is marginal at best. The screen is a little brighter in Pixel 9 but the Pixel 8 was good as well. The Pixel density and refresh rate are similar.

I haven't traveled yet to a weak signal area so cannot really compare the new modem of Pixel 9 vs Pixel 8 pro etc. It surprises me, however, that the Tensor G4 of Pixel 9 does not do any better than Tensor G3 in Pixel 8, in terms of general performance.

Did video calls, light gaming and GPS usage to see temperature of the CPU/Battery. It is similar to Pixel 8 and the phone very quickly heats up to 48-50 Celsius. It shuts down the cellular network if it heats up more. Using in the car, yesterday at 85 Fahrenheit the phone got toasty again even without using the GPS.

Overall very surprising that the basic apps still lag in a Pixel compared to iPhone or even Samsung. The scrolling sometimes is jittery and the thermal management and overheating is much worse in a Pixel than an iPhone.

These phones are not as much value at full price. Hopefully Pixel 10 improves on the shortcomings with a new processor.
Not surprising. That's why I'll never use a Pixel as my daily driver.

Yes. It's been 10 years, we are still looking for a Pixel that can compete with the iPhone. Google hasn't gotten it right yet.

I'm not gaming on my phone, but I've never encountered any lags on my Pixel 9 XL Pro yet. I am coming from a S23U that basically lived in battery saver mode.

What apps are lagging for you? I've not noticed anything performance wise, but I am just using it for Zoom/teams calls for work.

You mean compete in terms of dumbness? That's never gonna happen!

This is the review I left for the Best Buy store at Norwalk, CT:

Nobody knows what they are doing. Including the manager. I wonder why other stores can apply the Pixel 9 promos without any issues but not these guys. Blatantly denying by simply saying it's what it is! They simply couldn't apply the said promo!

The manager's says:
You can't expect to get so much (xxx) for your trade in phone.
When trying to show some proof of the promotion, she says to her staff that I am trying to bluff them by simply showing a made up proof!

The manager treating a customer as dumb A is the most dumbest thing to do!

I made my pre-order last 08/16, I'm trading my S24+ ($999 TIV) to P9PXL ($1099). My order is now available for pick-up. My problem is I don't have my S24+ at this moment due to my mom barrowed it for international travels and will be back on the 08/30.

Make me wonder if I'm going to have a problem with best buy honoring the current TIV of my S24+ ($999) since this promo will end on the 08/28.

one of my option is I can use my wife s24+ for the trade in right now but its different color. will this be a problem?
Your trade in value is locked in once your order was placed so it won't change as long as you pick up the order and don't cancel it

If you placed your order online, and have not been given any GC or promo coupon IN STORE, then your promo is locked in and won't expire on 8/28. Log into your BB account and extend the pickup date. I already picked up my Pixel 9 on 8/22 as scheduled. but I had the option to extend it out to Sep 4.

I already extended my pickup date to Sept.4, I can also see the $200 gc from my order details page at BB along with 3 months google1 100GB.

the GC is not active yet, assuming I will get it via email when I picked up my order. so everything should be good with my preorder?

Thanks

I picked up my pixel yesterday from my online order on 8/16 where I traded in an iPhone 13. Online it had the full $799 trade in amount and then in store the paper print out had a bunch of line items that didn't make sense and then said a refund of $235 at the bottom. Then I got another printout confirming the actual trade-in value matched the estimated trade-in value of $799. Hopefully I end up getting the full refund back on my CC but best buy had the sloppiest system for promotional discounts. I'm hoping it is just treating the base trade in and promotional trade in values as separate things. https://imgur.com/a/nQi9nyW
