I got the EVH Frankie model a while back... but honestly I cannot figure out the tuning mechanism lol. It's like rocket science trying to adjust the tuning pegs. You have to adjust at both the pegs as well as at the bridge, and I haven't been able to figure it out, so it's just turned into a piece of wall art.

It's called a Floyd Rose locking tremolo and it's an enormously common design used on millions of guitars across thousands of models for nearly fifty years. There are many videos online explaining how to set it up, or you could go into any guitar store on the planet and they would also know how to set it up.

Been waiting for the white version and just pulled the trigger. The white and black both look good to me, but I never get the point of that solid red...

Beware that 3 new finishes were just released:

The new ones are great but don't expect any to be deeply discounted soon.

The Floyd Rose is a more complicated bridge than what you'd find on a regular Strat. The strings are locked down on both ends to allow for deep wammy dives like Eddie regularly did without going out of tune. But if you'd rather you can just unlock the strings by the headstock and tune normally.
The tuners on the bridge are for micro adjustments. You unlock it, tune it up, and lock it in. Wham bam, Bob's your dad's brother.

Block the trem so that the baseplate is parallel to the body. Now tune the guitar like any other guitar and then tighten up the string locks. Remove the block; the claw springs will either pull everything sharp or everything will go flat. Now you just need to adjust the claw springs so that the bridge plate is parallel to the body and you'll be back in tune.

This is the technique I use to tune FR guitars. A benefit of this model is that it doesn't have the back cover. Much easier to adjust when a block is needed.

I'm clearly not the guitar player they have in mind for these. $1,700 seems like a lot of money for a guitar that has fake damage and a fake pickup. Then again I'm cheap and not a VH fan. Smilie I'd say save your money and create your own in the spirit of the original. Apparently Eddie didn't know what he was doing when he did the electronics anyway.

It's worth mentioning that the dummy neck pickup will be functional after a simple mod. Glad they didn't throw in a fake neck pickup at least.

Eddie knew what he was doing. His fashion sense with the Frankenstein guitars was part of the seismic shift away from classic 60s/70s Les Paul rock. He is credited with the super Strat phenomenon when he routed a Gibson PAF in the bridge. He's not a legend by accident.

The problem with EVH guitars is a Fender issue: too-high prices. The Wolfgang lineup is priced pretty reasonably, standard and special. Everything else is way too high. If this distressed series had been $1,299, a lot of EVH fans who passed on the striped series as too high profile would have probably added one to their collections.

Every new guitar from EVH/Fender is $400-600 above that. The new Wolfe signature is $1,900. Expect that to be a future flash sale from Adorama for $899.

To be honest, it's really not that difficult to figure out. The point of Promit is more that if you can't figure it our, do a little (easy) research, rather than posting a comment attempting to make the tuning seem difficult. It's not. And if you can't figure it out, you probably shouldn't have a guitar in your hands to begin with.

Not sure why you would post this? If your not interested, move on. Why even go into the posting, let alone the comments. Seems like a troll move to me.

And the comment about aeddie not knowing what he was doing is ignorant. The greatest minds on this planet don't EVER know what they're doing when they go into uncharted territory. it's called EXPERIMENTING and INNOVATING. Eddie experimented with amps and guitars up to the day he died.
