This is the lowest I've seen it. But it was this price two months ago. Not sure that I could justify another $600 for the striped version (if it were to go on sale again). I did play one at guitar center, and I didn't love the neck feel.

Yup you're correct, I was thinking of one of the Charvel guitars.

I kinda want to buy one of these and just stripe it myself. There are a lot of videos and tutorials online for how to do it.

No. Paying $$$ for a relic'd guitar is like paying extra for a car that comes pre-fabricated with several fender benders.

I think these are MIM EVH's. Seems like a pretty low price compared to what they might often sell for. The tribute style relicing on it is prob a considerable part of their average cost I guess. I understand that Eddie liked his Frankenstrat style setup for a while but from a production standpoint, offering 1 humbucker and a volume knob is prob considerably cheaper than a wiring setup like the Fender Juanes (includes a midboost circuit via s-1 switch and 3 signature pickups) I know there are many great MIM guitars. I think i'm still surprised that many imported (prob except Japan, because their quality is often praised to be close to USA average) guitars 'normal pricing' is $1000+ and usually dont come with a hard case. I think around 2000-2005 Fender Standard Strats were about $349 in MF catalogues and prob came with a nice gigbag. It kind of seems like MIM is the new standard for many great production Fender style guitars.

I'm not sure if you're implying the Juanes is MIM but it's American made. I have one. It's alright.

I like relic guitars. Newer guitars are painted so well they don't really wear down anymore you have to get one premade.

Don't think for a second that people don't pay beaucoup bucks for vintage looking cars and trucks…https://www.gasmonkeygarage.com/b...x0je0R8h07

At the end of the day, lots of old stuff just looks cool. And in the case of guitars, it also feels cool and adds to the playability (particularly the neck).

And then they fix them up, so they look like new.

Uh, no. That's the finished product. Start the video at 24:45 where he talks about keeping the patina instead of painting it.

I am looking for the EVH "Frankie" relic guitar. Can't find any deals on that one. 2k is ridiculously high.
